Big Toe Metatarsal Joint Swelling and PAIN

Anyone out there experience this after a bout of skiing? Don't want to go down the gout rabbit hole since I don't fit the profile, wondering if it could just be because my boots don't break in the right place and are hurting me. First time this has ever come up... Thanks!
