Seriously.
Norwegians stealing American jobs!

(That’s the sort of thing I would expect from an American, not a Norwegian. But I guess poor behavior knows no nationality.)

I live on the border. I fish on the border. I can tell you around where I live American’s know not to violate Canadian fish and game laws. As a matter of fact, you really need GPS so you don’t cross that line in the water if you don’t have Canadian licenses.

Tonje was treated much kinder than the average American from the stories I hear.

Saw in the posts at the end of the Yukon article that she was going to Alaska. Bet she would go looking for the Magic Bus. I.e. In to the Wild. Only to find it’s gone!

What is refreshing to me is reading the responses from her fellow norwegians. None of them defended her, and most were embarrassed by her actions. Not sure the samevreactions would come from us north americans.

Yes, here in Norway littering is a big no-no. Occasionally there will be the odd beer can or Kvik Lunsj™ wrapper on the ground but in general it's very clean. For her to go to another country and show such a lack of respect for the locals is pretty classless imo.

It's pretty un-Norwegian behaviour to be honest.

Norwegian outdoor culture is still old school Western European socialist "Enjoy and share the great outdoors!" in many ways (of course it's more complicated than that, especially at the local government level, and you read some surprising comments online.)

But the attitude to the responsible enjoyment of nature with GoreTex trousers on is really admirable.

Tonje Blomseth's kind of at the place where selfie-culture and old school 'friluftsliv' meet. Busted by instagramming an out-of-season kill in a break on your reality show kind of captures the zeitgeist.

This reality TV actress returned home shortly after these events, supposedly. The TV show got a lot of criticism here. I haven't seen it as I prefer living in my own reality.

To be honest there are a lot of idiots here like in every other country. Comparatively less perhaps due to a higher general interest in nature and outdoor activities. But still plenty.

I think Musk Ox perfectly highlighted the root of the problem and the irony.

It's probably a real headache for Åsnes, come to think of it.

Morally, the TV producer should be considered accountable... and fined too.

Also, It tells an interesting story about the modern adventurer persona...
