Nordic skating is alot of fun when there is too little snow to ski. And, you get to stretch the use of your NNN/NNN BC boots
Here is a fun video from folks in Alaska. Very popular in northern Europe.

I have limited time in the off season but will try to get in some paddling and maybe some hiking with the wife.
As a suggestion I would post all the off season activities in the regular forum. Things seem to get overlooked in the OT forum.( like the squirels in my attic)

Tom - you need to stop posting that Nordic skating stuff. I am '' this close to buying a pair!
I don't know what it is, but I remember the first time I tried ice skating when I was a kid. Not at a rink but on a frozen swamp a ways back in near the house I grew up in. My dad bought me some el cheapo figure skates.
Long story short, I found out skating is like walking for me. I could go anywhich way, forward, backward, etc... it just seemed to make sense and I was tearing all over that frozen swamp.
I also learned I hate the stupid spurs on figure skates. I can't tell you how many face plants I did from catching those on uneven, natural ice. But I was like 7, so it didn't even phase me. And that's probably why my dad got them so cheap. How many kids need/want figure skates?
Anyway, you should post more on this. Perhaps an entire thread is in order?

PS Al, I thought "squirrels in the attic" was like 'bats in the belfry'.
I've lived in many places that literally had squirrels in the attic. I never worried about them too much They go away in the summer anyway.

Other here is sailing, at least in the past. I will probably spend more time roller skiing, I don't currently have a boat.

Yeh, I might have those too. If I didn't have to spend so much time chasing squirrels I probably would have figured out how to post a picture a long time agoMikeK wrote:PS Al, I thought "squirrels in the attic" was like 'bats in the belfry'.
Re: What do you do when you can't ski?
If you figure out how to post a picture, I request one of you chasing squirrels.
