I know that some might say- perhaps rightly so under certain conditions and skills- that all of these skis "ski the same"- I can tell you with confidence that they don't.
The Sverdrup ski is totally different from the Amundsen and Gamme.
The Sverdrup has more in comon with the Ingstad than the Amundsen/Gamme.

Unashamed to be a "cross-country type" and love skiing down-hill.

Really good choice. I think the only reason to get a shorter Ingstad would be to easier for DH. But then, there is way better skis than the Ingstad for that intend use. I am slightly heavier than you and my first pair of Ingstad were 195 but I was “lucky” to get a new pair as a warranty replacement and chose 205. This ski is for deep snow so every cm counts I guess.freedom glider wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 9:46 am6', probably 210 lbs with boots, clothes and gear. got the 205s. ive skied long skis all my life and am used to going longer than shorter lengths.

Making the observation that, for example, a 205 Ingstad for a 200+ pound skier does not really seem like “going long” for ski length. It’s actually consistent with Asnes length recommendations.

Re: Which first Asnes ski to buy ?
To add a perhaps useless tidbit- I weigh 180-185 and an 5'10"- I would not want the Ingstad any shorter than 205.
This ski has significant rocker in the shovel- while it's stable shovel is supportive in deep soft snow- it skis VERY short on consolidated/hardpack snow.
The effective edge of a 205 Ingstad = 185 Nansen.

Re: Which first Asnes ski to buy ?
@lilcliffy, is your 185 pounds with or without a pack?
If without, then with a pack, you’re probably above Asnes’s 195 pound lower limit recommendation for the Ingstad at 205.
I’m more like 190 pounds all up, so the 205 Ingstad is technically a bit long for me, but I’ve been very happy with the 205 and am happy that you all here encouraged me to “go long!”
However, I’m 6’ 3”, so maybe my height justifies going a bit long?

Re: Which first Asnes ski to buy ?
Just watched this Patagonia film where 3 ladies went across 85 miles journey from the Canadian Bugaboos to Rogers ski traverse. Looks like it be perfect for lightweight BC XC or the lighter weight setup like the Rabb 68 ? Sorry for the newbie question but how come they are all in heavier AT gear setup ????

I'd say that they aren't looking for a Nordic xc bc experience. The gear is lighter and they don't need to learn a new turn.
Do you know if they were on scales or skins?

No idea, but maybe you guys can spot it better than me. Here is the film I am talking about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvApou1Ln8Qlowangle al wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 9:02 pmI'd say that they aren't looking for a Nordic xc bc experience. " Tapping into an intimate journey of three wonderful friends, Mind Over Mountain follows Canadian snow sliders Leah Evans, Marie-France Roy, and Madeleine Martin-Preney on their 85-mile, 30,000-foot-vertical Bugaboos to Rogers ski traverse. The iconic Canadian ski route dishes out some shaky spring conditions, tests rappelling confidence, hurt hip flexors, and breaks personal rules to never ski out in the dark. But the human conditions are as good as they get, and we’re reminded that snow travel is as much about talking with mountains as it is talking with friends."
