Re: Spec...u...lating
Well that ski was nothing short of fabulous.....So the wax worked sooo...good....Easy 1000 feet up on a packed wax trail.....Dropped a bit to the east...got the wax off....and it was a dream ride down with the skis arcing anything and everything....Snow had firmed up so riding in at waist deep did not happen....Surfatizing was in and anybody could have been a hero....Think of the best snow you can ski....a thousand feet of open...way open...hardwood forest skiing....That's all folks...TM

Sounds like you're having a good time these days, TM.
The flowing river never stops and yet the water never stays the same.
Re: Spec...u...lating
Have had some excellent winters lately and this one so far is outstanding....Snow has consolidated a bit so we can come to the surface in moderate terrain but in BC steeps leaning forward will result in going in deep....Some of the best powder of the season....Have only done Japanese Woods once this year. A place that looks similar to your forest mountains...need faster surface snow....Mostly we are skiing in temps from below zero to 10o....Happy times! TM
Re: Spec...u...lating
Checked out a couple of ledges for the boys.....Arced a few in the hardwoods.....setting up wax trails for climbing....Skiing just keeps getting better....CIMA we have a couple of places that have what looks like your forest hill over there....We call them Japaneese woods....As soon as it gets a bit warmer....when the surface snow gets fast....we will hit those places...As of now it needs to be moderately steep for speed....The Kingdom beat LJ's -32o wityh a -35o reading and around here it was in the upper -20 degrees....When you hit a dip the snow explodes....looks good! TM
Re: Spec...u...lating
Was taking pictures early and Telekid put on a wicked show....Course I was the only one watching....Yesterday was humerous as I went in big three times....skis didn't like dips and watercourses with the surface snow getting heavier or windpacked....If the tips went under you were in some trouble...Riding the back ski was the ticket and knew it but had to be slapped up to recognize what was what....TM
Re: Spec...u...lating
Soooo deeeeeppppp......Man!...Telekid up to his chest practically over his head deep....Telewheels upside down deep....just the tips of vectors showing in the steep area known as the Vortex....Skinny ski stopping deep...Speed the only answer or a track from yester-days....Good pictures...lots of fun....Great food....Cold beer and fire...Best powder year in ....years...TM
Re: Spec...u...lating
Was speculating with the Doc....Back isn't gonna heal until summer....Skiing isn't helping it...Doc says he will do what he can to keep the skiing going till rest summer time....Could anybody stop in the year of Powder...Nope!...What a dope...Anyway LJ your on a tele adventure like none you have ever dreamed about...There are gonna be arcs and sparks....bumps....s turns...bark eating....Parenthood will keep you on your toes....enjoy! Re: Spec...u...lating
I lost all of last year with this and tried the same non-surgical stuff plus steroid injections in my spine which I would not do again. Nothing worked, but $60 on a used inversion table has me skiing and playing tennis again. 40 degrees, 4 minutes morning and evening and sometimes afternoon if I'm twisted up. It did in about 1 week what months of PT could not. My issue is in L5 - a table won't help soft tissue issues (every time I do it my torn meniscus screams) but for a disk issue it really helps. I have several friends with similar results, all of us had lower back issues in the L5 area (old man syndrome). Worth a try...MikeK wrote:Suit yourself - it's only your own voice you want to silence.
As far as your back pain you should really consider surgery if you are having pain down your legs. My wife had the same issues - nothing worked: Chiropractors, PT, doctors, pills... an out patient surgery and she is pain free for over 3 months going.
Re: Spec...u...lating
My wife is 33. She crashed a kart. Also had a family history. She had a herniated disk L4/L5. She was miserable for like two years. I finally bullied her into getting surgery... not really... just strongly urged her to look into it. It was seriously holding her back and I figured it was only going to get worse with age.
