Maybe not all threads are for all skiers. Not all are to “generate stoke”.bauerb wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 11:49 amyou ever seen one of those threads titled "How to make Telemark Skiing more popular"? ...this is the exact opposite of that thread. .. I cannot think of a more vapid stereotype than a surfer dude. Hang out, watch videos of people getting tubed, hit the hash pipe, and do it all over again. For decades.
Surfers aren’t like that in real life though. Sure, some like getting tubed and stoned. The good ones try hard to elevate their game. Crazy as it sounds, there will be a lot of discussion on physics. Not graduate level, but dropping Bernoulli’s name won’t cause a revolt like Newton’s has here.
Before committing seriously to any sport, you have to believe in what you’re doing. That way, you try again if you fail… because you believe in what you’re doing.
A discussion on how things work or why things work can be useful. It can reinforce some beliefs and challenge others. Either way, it is a form of mental engagement that is really important in performance sports.
It’s only a boner killer to those who fail to see the opportunity.
Would I want to sit around all day when there are great conditions to be skied? Nope. But if you’re online, it’s a sign you’re either worn out from a session or the conditions have turned to shite. Either way, you’re online man.
