it would be really something if the grocery store had a "hot wax while you shop" station...

Snow in central CO east of the divide had been almost too thin to ski, and one night of snowfall with soft snow under dense snow made it almost too deep (at least until the new stuff settles).
I like that first photo with the skyline colors. East of the divide in South Park, so... near Leadville? Fairplay? Alma? Left at the second marmot and then right of the fourth mountain goat?

Do you live in a place where if you left them outside someone would steal them?
It's a ski town on the interstate, so I'd say 50/50 whether they'd still be there when I went back outside. If mgmt took issue, I'd just ask to check them at Customer Service.

Now if I left them where I live, they'd likely be there or brought inside by someone else and turned in.

While you shop? No, but they do offer Brazilians.

I was able to sling them diagonal on my Flash 22L pack. I clipped the waistbelt around the back through the lowest daisy chain loops an slid them through one loop on the side, then up and over then the brain over the top, and a velcro strap across the upper part through the highest daisy loop on the other side.

On the bus, they're tall enough that I can wedge the tails by the seat and wheel well with the tips reaching above and in the corner of the handstrap bar and the crossbrace bar so I don't have to hold them when riding, just keep my boot against the tail. Frees up the hands to drink cocoa from my flip-top thermos (GSI Microlite 500mL) -- has a slide lock for the flip button and keeps drinks nice and hot on a long day if you bury it in your pack and cover the cap and upper neck with stuff as that's where the most heat is lost.

you know it must be a holiday when the street in front of the bakery is full of Subarus and the requisite Prius owned by a guy who wants you to know that he skis tele....or that he is originally from Telemark Wisconsin...its hard to say what he's getting at with the plate

Just starting, here. 2 to 3 feet forecast in northern Wasatch from this storm, with at least one waiting in the wings.

speaking of Wasatch: I just made the hard decision to skip going to Solitude/Brighton for the Powderkeg races. I went last year and got super lucky with a hotel room at Solitude. this year? no chance. and all the race emails talk about not driving , no parking, traffic, shuttle tickets, etc etc. its a logistical nightmare for what is 3 days of awesome racing, but I'm not going. it it was Park City or another large resort with more than 10 hotel rooms, I would go, but no way I've driving 3 days in a row from Salt Lake City up the canyon with the possibility new snow, "powder day traffic", etc...on top of the stress that already comes with racing. its different dates, but I'll prob go to Kicking Horse instead....never been there...

Go!
My cousin went up there, to Kicking Horse, and was blown away!
Yeah, parking is a nightmare. Park City is paid and reservations. Canyons is free, for now. Deer Valley is free as well. Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons are complete carnage on powder days. Probably not like some areas in Colorado, but still.....

it seems almost daily that I see articles like this one: https://ksltv.com/526252/new-traffic-pl ... ongestion/

if you live there you are very fortunate, but for someone who can pick where they travel, and doesn't require record powder, there are other places that are so much easier. don't get me wrong, I like Utah quite a bit, but the Canyon thing is a big deterrent for me. I live pretty far north now, so Kicking Horse is one long day of driving, whereas Utah is 2/3's of a long day driving...basically 1 day of travel...
