Ski boot sizes seem to be pretty consistent. If you measure a 27.5 and you have a couple of fingers behind your heel with the liners removed, that's a good all around touring fit. The boot may feel too snug, but that's intentional. Starting off with a boot that's too snug and heat molding it results in the best possible fit. This doesn't apply as much with the scarpa t4 because the liner is thinner and you can't mold it as much.
Keep in mind the shell fit tells you if it's the right size. It doesn't tell you anything about width or volume.

I went to the OGX for some skis. No skis, but I did get Scott Excursions in 26.5. The reason I bought 26.5 is because the Syner-G 27.5 shells were 2+ finger fit, and being used they were VERY roomy. based on this, I thought I'd be a 26-26.5 in the Garmont/Scott shells.

In the lightly used 26.5 Excursions, the shell fit is 1+ fingers, maybe not 1 1/2. One of my big toes is awfully squished, and my outer BOF areas sure are tight. My toes are pushing on the front, but I don't think they are curled. I read they are not thermomold material. I'm surprised by this fit because I didn't think I'd have width problems with Garmont. I can return these used Excursions ($249!) by next sunday.

In the meantime. I bought new 27cm Black Diamond Seekers. They aren't real tight, but all of my toes touch the front, and the heel is snug. I skiied on them with the thinnest socks I have, and I think they will be great with some aftermarket insoles and regular darn tough socks.
