I should target to have some play between the duckbill and the bail? How much force can the pins take? My understanding was that they are there more just to help keep the boot aligned but not take much actual force. eBay turned up zero size 10 March boots. Bummer.
You're correct, just enough closure to keep the boot in place/don't know what bindings you're using, but a 75mm telemark norm should accomdate 18-22 mm soles generally without problems.
BTW, did you know that a US size 10 is a British size 9 in those Alicos.

I’m using the plain ol voile mountaineer binding. Been clicking it to the middle position which is snug but I didn’t have to force them closed. I attributed the crack to me not flexing the sole in the right spot (at the end of the toes instead of at the ball of the foot) because the March sole is so rigid. I’ll try loosening up this season. I am aware of the sizing - I have both size 9 and 10 UK boots because my feet are about 1/2” different in length. Always been fun picking out shoes….
