They're Back
Looks like REI has some new stock of the Fischer Traverse 78 and the 88's. The photos show easy skin compatibility.
https://www.rei.com/product/240841/fisc ... untry-skis. I wonder what the country of origin is? Looks like REI is back to their old game of not understanding the weight of the skis. 9 lbs a pair Maybe this is the new and improved version that are all metal construction with lignostone edges. They currently have sizes from 169 to 199 cm, but when you select any size, it says "low inventory". I wonder what that means for availability this winter?

Re: They're Back
@blitzskier I've been thinking about the upcoming season and pondering the channel. Last year I modified my Scarpa T2's to make them lighter and a bit more flexible. Stephen joked when he saw them last Spring and said, "congratulations, you turned your T2's into T4's I did not feature the T2 transformation on my Youtube channel as it puts me in the crazy category, but there is method to my madness. My T2, switchback X2, Voile Hyper v6 setup has been my steep and deep setup for a number of years and that might change this year with the introduction of the new lighter weight 3 buckle TX pro. I'm considering the pros and cons and struggling with "old farts probably shouldn't buy green bananas syndrome " At any rate, I have a plan A and a plan B and only time will tell what shakes out.
Re: They're Back
I preordered my Tx Pros 6 months ago and should have the boots in another week! I’m running them on Voile Ultravectors BC with Voile Transit. Great combo! Excited to get the new boot on the snow! I hear Voile is also releasing a longer Endeavor ski which I will eventually add to my quiver.Tom M wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2024 10:14 pm@blitzskier I've been thinking about the upcoming season and pondering the channel. Tom my guess is Scarpa will sell out this season for the new boot with all the pre orders. If you’re on the fence I would order sooner rather than later.

Re: They're Back
would like to see you do some more clothing reviews (cheaper alternatives to REI) and maybe a beginners to novice guide for solo back country skiing basics.
just an idea....

Re: They're Back
I've been checking daily to see if anyone has them in stock. My hope is that REI will carry them. I really want to do a carpet fitting before the season begins, and if the boots seem too stiff and burley for my liking and heavier in weight than what is being published, then I'll return them to REI in Jackson and stick with my current quiver for this season. My plan is to pull the Xplore bindings off my Hypervectors and remount with the 22 designs Lynx.

I had 2 versions of the Lynx. It’s a very stiff active binding. It skied great, but I had way too many problems with it. Boot Jack, claw releasing, plates cracking, and was a bit too stiff for my liking. Highly recommended the Voile Transit. Feels very similar to Switchback X2 but is way more responsive. You can now get soft springs for them too!

Re: They're Back
I'm considering the Transit as well. All that stuff underfoot on the Lynx and the Medijo looks like a recipe for problems. Nonetheless I'm curious and if I find the Lynx too stiff with the pin in the forward position, I'll give the soft flex plates a try. If all the Scarpa boots have been presold and I can't get my hands on a set this season, then I'll still be a happy camper with my current quiver. Nothing would make me happier than for the demand to be greater than the supply for this boot as it might be the encouragement that Scarpa needs to create an even lighter weight backcountry tele boot, something on the lines of the F1 LT.voilenerd wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 5:43 pmI had 2 versions of the Lynx. Hi Tom. Hope you are getting some early season Rockies powder.Tom M wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 1:42 pmLooks like REI has some new stock of the Fischer Traverse 78 and the 88's. The photos show easy skin compatibility.

I zoomed on the Traverse 78 photo on the Fischer website, on the images for dealers section (it is a 7mb .tiiff file)- the top sheet (surprisingly) says- Austria, and the Easyskin is back for sure. Last year's was made in China and year before in CZ. The problem being that the enormous Fischer factory in western Ukraine burned down in 2020 and was rebuilt, just in time for the Russian onslaught. It is currently not operational due to staff being conscripted- for over 30 years it made most of Fischer skis and a lot of other brands too. They have their own forest and lumber operation there- a tree-to-ski factory, state of the art. A victim of war for the time being.
Two shops in America have inventory in addition to REI- Great Lakes Outlet and Curated (a website with a design for people who spend too much time with their phones).
I am buying a pair of 78s from Sport Conrad in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. They will have them in stock mid-October.
Maybe the stocking is slow because they are trying to get rid of the Chinese ones that have no Easyskin attachment?

Re: They're Back
REI will charge you an additional $30 shipping on the 199cm length Traverse 78 for "oversize". One of many reasons I have not bought anything from them in 15 years or so.
