Ingstads mounted AT? However you still Tele on the BD’s. I know skiing in Alaska is different. I learned quite a few years ago that it isn’t very wise to tell another man what he should do to enjoy himself. As a guy that really enjoys dropping a knee. Could you elaborate why you mount the Ingstad with a fixed heel?
As a follow up question. I am remounting my Tindan more forward. I ski it now 75 mm and I like how it kicks and glides. However, I like the way TTS skis better. So I am curious as to your thoughts on kick and glide with a tech toe.
I am really going back and forth on this, but TTS really is better for me downhill. It is significantly better for me.

@fisheater yeah the Ingstads with AT is an experiment which involves finding the best single ski for long distance lightweight arctic travel where I will be bringing kites to kite-ski when the wind is good. Most people use heavy alpine skis for kiteskiing, and for expeditions will also bring a second pair of nordic skis for when there is no wind (like for Sarah and Eric McNair-Landry's Northwest Passage trip). I'm hoping the AT Ingstads could be a quiver of one for trips like that. I find kick and glide to not suffer at all with a tech toe as long as you have the right boots that allow for sufficient ankle flex, and I mostly still do tele turns with the heel unlocked, but then by locking the heel I've taken them down black diamond resort runs confidently.

I plan on doing a more detailed report/evaluation on how well this works in a few weeks after an upcoming trip.

Maybe you can find an older F-1 or F-3 with a bellows and tech heel. It might be the best of both worlds. I wish you the best of luck in your pursuits. Alaskans seem to have their own unique approaches. It’s interesting to an observer south of 45 north (not super for south).

Yes I was puzzling over the XC skis with AT bindings too.

I’ve found free pivot is fine for kick and glide as well. Just a little awkward on certain moves like stepping over a down log or suddenly going into a single tele turn with free pivot mode on.

Waist size, smallest to largest. I have accumulated too many, but I love skiing and most were used when bought, and get a lot of use when there is a real winter. Prepping all but the Rossi and Sondre for summer storage right now.
