New oldschool skis?

Post by JeffXCD » Sat Jan 13, 2024 4:48 pm

Last year I tried my old Rossi TRS and loved them. But at 210 they are too long. So I launched on a hunt for 200-205 oldschool teleboards. ...Those old Rossis are very light and Steve Barnetts ideal width --> 68x58x65. A simple lively board. I just realized that I dont need an old ski. They can be hard to find. Is there any newer ski that might be easier to find in that width and style? Basically those specs in single camber... I dont know how my TRS would be described for flex but they were an early tele race ski. Thanks!

What comes to mind is the neoclassics sold by manzokusp out of Japan. Beautiful skis but likely hard to obtain. Closest thing readily available would be Nansens maybe? I think these all may be wider than what you're looking for though.

Good list of what Dave calls "old school telemark," but a wide variety of skis ranging in stiffness and camber from soft and/or single to stiff and double. I have a newer Nansen (wider in tip and tail, 76-56-66) and I think it's got a nice soft round flex and is really great for xcD if you're looking for that old school feel with just a bit more width and shape. I also have an old Sondre, the flex is soft and it has less sidecut than Nansen but I make some short turns on it in bare pins on hiking trails. Good luck.
