Where to buy Asnes mountain race?
I dont see them listed at Neptune. That is where I thought they would be available in the USA. Is November too late and now they are all gone again? Anywhere else to shop?

Also I wonder just what is up with all the voodoo talk about the various versions of Asnes mid-width skis and their magic? It seems like there is cult worship about what they do in various subtley different snow conditions. To say the least it ends up being a bit confusing. I think some models are waxable with an optional skin. Is that right? And the width is underfoot. Then there is all this about flex making wide skis fast ... or something.

Lots of other voodoo out there. Fischer voodoo, Rossignol voodoo, Madshus voodoo, etc.

Jeff,
Neptune hasn't carried that model for several years. Norseman in Alberta is your best bet. Remember to take into account usdcad exchange rate.
And yes this is in part an Asnes cult site.

I was in The Norseman ski shop on Saturday and they do have some mountain 48’s in, along with a few mountain 48
Skin, a few pairs of 46’s and a few mountain trails. They also have Sverdrups, Ingstads, Cecile, Line Sverdrups, Rabb 68 - am I missing something? No Gamme 54 or Amundsen’s unfortunately this year.

JeffXCD,
Re: Neptune and the Asnes Mountain Race (48 etc.).
You asked, "Is November too late and now they are all gone again?"
Typically what's there at this time of year is from last season's order. This seasons order is on the way and there may be more than 1. Calling them and speaking with someone who knows would be good.
MR 48's haven't been coming in. Their last pairs were sold on clearance type sales (a couple years ago) or something and don't believe more will arrive. I believed Asnes stopped producing that ski, however, I may be incorrect about that and other info.
With new owners, what, a couple years ago, it also, is to be seen how Asnes is represented at Neptune.
They have at least 1 pair of 195cm's in their rental fleet and I think another longer pair too, if that knowledge is helpful.

Re: Where to buy Asnes mountain race?
Sport Albert still has some waxable Mountain Race 48 skis in stock, as well as some Mountain Tour 51 skis.
It looks like they may have bought them in bulk before Asnes stopped making the Mountain Tour 51, and moved Mountain Race 48 production mostly to the skin version. They have a nice discount on the Mountain Tour 51, too.
Varuste has a good discount on the Mountain Race 48 Skin currently.

Re: Where to buy Asnes mountain race?
I guess that the magic comes from being the only, as far as I know, manufacturer pushing the envelope for BC XC skis. They developed new skis such as the Sverdrup and Ousland in the last few years and we hope they will continue R&D development in the coming years. Also, be worried that if you start buying Åsnes skis you don’t know where and when it will end. About buying in North America, the Norseman in Calgary has a great service. Write to them directly if you need anything, their website does not necessarily match their inventoryJeffXCD wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 7:18 pmAlso I wonder just what is up with all the voodoo talk about the various versions of Asnes mid-width skis and their magic?
