The itch has definitely started. Yesterday, hiked a mile in my newer Arctics to break them in some more. Storm came in overnight and left a dusting on the CO Continental Divide. US-34 going over closed due to drifting snow and ice. Webcam is at 11796’.

Ice skates would be more effective. Some of it was styrofoam neve, but some was actually swing the tools blue ice.

First day of Winter here in the Colorado Rockies.
Or as the locals call it - Mud Season. Hard freeze (mud) comes around the 3rd week of September.
