Bumping this up in hopes someone will give me their thoughts on these skis. Been away from t tips for a while as summers are very busy for me here in s.c. Alaska, but seems that a bit of a p.....g contest has developed, which may deter some from posting. Hope not. I am not really a telemarker, more just an old guy that likes to slide on snow.
I am concerned these skis may be a bit of a "drag" for me. The length posted must be under the binding, but I believe them to be 200 cm. They have a very soft flex, with very little camber.
I have skied a very similar ski, the Karhu xcd in 210 and 205 for many years, with similar dimensions and flex, but they are wax and what I use for a wax pocket is shorter than the fishscale pattern on these E99s. I weigh 180 lb. nekked
Any thoughts on what generation these mountain crown based e99s are? And if they may be a little short for me? Either way,I will be skiing them before too long, but have always appreciated the advice and tips I have been given on this site and on the old site when I was "wannabe"
Until someone with actual expertise shows up, you're stuck with me I'm afraid.

There's some discussion on the Europa 99/ E99 patterns and changing flex here: https://telemarktalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=4518

You're about 80kg and these are 200cm long so if they were in the current Fischer range they'd be pretty much the right length for you for 'mere' sliding around on snow. But these are pre-name change E99s so they're about 25+ years old, so I daresay diagnosing the flex perfectly may be in an inexact science in some ways, and that is literally all I am able to add to this conversation so I will now press 'submit'.

Been skiing 99's for decades. Best cruising ski I ever had. That means up, down and all around. Learn how to turn them and the ride is THRILLING!. What a rush to make sweeping arcs at warp speed on perfect corn at Tuckerman's Ravine. Sure as hell couldn't do that now but still the thrill is there at my ancient age, and those hills up on Little Mountain and the Highlands make my world go around. TM

Thanks Stephen. Trying this again. Hoping someone might have an idea what generation these are.
Those BCX look like the generation that came right before the Xtralite skis, which were the last skis without nordic rocker. However, artwork varies enormously, and it may be better to look at the fishscale pattern to know for sure.

What does the fishscale pattern look like?

Is it the older mountain crown pattern, the newer offtrack crown pattern, or the negative crown pattern that Fischer used for a little bit?

Riel,
Bases say 750 crown tech and mountain crown. Don't think they are a recessed fishscale. Either way,I have wanted e99s for over 30 years and found these at a yard sale for $30. I am sure I will get my money's worth out of them. Will change the bindings to some rottefella supertelemarks I have, as I am an old 3pinner. Never having skied fishscaled backcountry skis,I am a little concerned that the soft camber and long "wax zone" will be a drag.Hopefully will find out in another6 to 8 weeks!.
Thanks to you and others for your responses.

Hey Chisana
Yeah I have some older Country Crowns with that Mountain Crown waxless pattern. Fischer gets a lot of praise for their new Outback Crown which I have on SB 98's, but the MC seems to grip very well too. The grip is the best thing about these skis along with them being grab and go. I'm 5'9" 182 and I have the 215cm skis. They are my longest ski and that's a good thing since they are soft and let's just say not fast. When it's too warm for kick wax they are much appreciated and at their best. When I'm on them they always have kick which is a very good thing, but when it is good cold kick wax temps they can be a drag and make me want other skis.

Have a set of 215's and a 205. Worry about the 215's because of the wild cruising which has caused lots of breakage. But at this time in living who cares? Love the feel in deep powder because those skis HAVE to be headed down. Turn them across the fall line and they come to a stop in the deep so head them down and get a wild ride. We have a shot called the Vortex. My 205's did a couple speedy turns at the top but as the trees closed in the only thing one could to is RIDE. Just above Telecamp on Little Mountain. Fantastic place. TM

Ohhh, those are nice. I have similar ones in 205 length, red edelweiss top sheet. You will definitely get your money's worth!

They aren't very fast due to their softer flex, but that same soft flex allows them to go almost anywhere with those fishscales. They are super stable in all snow conditions I threw at them.

Have enjoyed many of your posts @riel. Lots of ski sense and a very practical approach to the sport.

Members of the forum would do well to trust in your observations and follow your advice on skis.

FWIW…

Thanks for all the responses. Still a little concerned about the fishscale base and soft flex being slow, but have been wanting e99s for years, and also wanted a "grab and go set" for marginal waxing conditions. All I need now is some snow. Termination dust in the mountains,so it won't be long!
