Here’s Al, bathing in his own shit yesterday. On T4s too, he must have had a terrible time.

There's a lot I can say about you, but knowing how to ski isn't one of them.

Johnny summed you up pretty well… and yet you keep on digging a deeper hole for yerself.

A good way to quickly identify the signs of old man rut is to start with this simple advise of mine: Never trust a guy who recommends T4s and pins.

… I think doing something retarded for many decades doesn't make one's opinion more worthy. Quite the opposite. Just like gently flexing the back knee and double-planting on geriatric terrain with freaking-expensive hi-tech telemark gear doesn't make someone an authority on the subject.

… Let the old fart bathe in his own shit... You know just like me that there ain't no cure for old man rut... Distorting the reality according to our own egocentric needs and believing our own lies afterward is terribly lame... But hey, nothing new here... Same old same old...
You dont have to brag about yourself to others… satisfy yourself on your own terms. So it quietly. Allow others to find their own path; define their own successes. Talk about things. Find wonder outside yourself.

Interesting thread, started as a Lord of the Flies type thread about one guy and went to a trip report for another. Keep the Adsense meter moving:)

Just because Johnny owns the site doesn't mean he's always right.

The only 3 pin binding I recommended was the 3p HW. Because it's a good dh binding, you can remove the heel throws for better touring and they are a lot cheaper than a switchback. I'm a light cable binding guy.

As far as doing something retarded for decades, if he means sticking with 75mm gear, I guess I'm guilty. Otherwise I've been going back and forth from light to heavy gear, skiing a variety of terrain. I may ski geriatric terrain, but when everyone else is on AT gear or splitboards I'm leaving my xc skis at home.

Double poling? Haven't done that since doing jump turns on straight double camber skis.

Freaking expensive high tech gear? Yeah, I bought one pair of premium skis, the hyper vector. They cost an extra hundred bucks. So far they've cost me an extra 20 bucks a year. Well worthwhile for a ski that every time I pick them up I'm still surprised how light they are.

Anyway if Jonny thinks your participation here is a good thing here I don't think It's a place that I want to hang around.

Oh, I think @Johnny was talking about a lot of us, myself included.

Remember, freeing the heel it supposed to free the mind.

@lowangle al I am a bit confused, I thought you were a geriatric has been? So I am assuming you’re wearing a helium filled pack, and your nurse took you with a snowmobile into the Alaskan backcountry? BTW I’m happy to see you’re still skiing this season, I have been fishing since March. Do you think the long skiing seasons you have over the years gave you some good insight into backcountry skiing? I mean before you got so old you became a full time window licker?
BTW I realize I’m not to far from window licking status, but I the new (to me) F-3’s I ordered are really impressing me. They have a higher cuff than the T-4, but they are lighter. They are lighter than both my pairs of Alaska! I guess it will come down to two things, does a two pin tech binding offer more control than 75 mm downhill, and is a tech binding better for touring with mid 80’s to mid 90’s touring skis.
Hopefully your nurse will use easy to understand words. I’m still kind of dumbfounded, because from your stills you like like a really good skier to me!

Just curious, I see it’s winter in the mountains, is it spring in the lower elevations? I almost don’t want to know you can ski and fish on consecutive days!
