Voile transit & scarpa F1

Post by lemon » Thu May 04, 2023 1:35 pm

I have a pair of F1's that I'm hoping to use with the new Voile Transit. Does anyone know if they will be compatible?
Ideally i would like to use the original ski/walk mode on the boot still. Thanks!

I certainly expect them to be compatible, I plan on using that binding with my brand new (old stock) F-1 Race.
Not being a smart alec, but why wouldn’t they work? The Transit is going to use a standard Plum tech toe, and the F-1 has a shelf for the heel throw.
Good luck,
Bob

The potential area of interference would be between the heel throw and the ski/walk lever. I 3D printed my own heel throw with a pocket for that lever. However, it looks like Voile slightly redesigned their heel throw, and it looks like it has a small pocket in that area. Someone should try it out and report back if it works with the (gen 2) F1. It definitely won't work with the gen 1 F1, the one with the very wide lever.

Just replace the levers. Assuming same length, boot angle won’t change. Minor difference in length = minor change in boot angle. No big deal.

Just so nobody gets the wrong information, it is not possible to swap levers between gen 1 and gen 2. The shell on gen 1 is different where it interfaces with the lever.

LOL. Love these companies. Built in obsolescence.

Just to be clear, is it an issue that can be resolved in a machine shop? Like a milled insert to fill the channel… or a hole spacing issue? Or is @fisheater screwed here…

If I read the post from @jtb correctly I have a gen. #2, is that correct?

I was able to latch the cable throw securely with my 3-pin Hardwire binding. I guess I’ll find out what happens with a Transit. Maybe the fix will be a Hardwire heel throw??? I certainly appreciate the expertise guys.
