It's hard for me to see the marks on the 3.0 that show where to put your toe. On the 2.1, there are small metal clips that stick up a couple of mm to help you position the toe.Gladeskier wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 10:42 pmWhat do you like more about the 2.1 over the 3.0?Montana St Alum wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 9:52 pm[quote= I actually like the 2.1 more, but haven't been able to find them.

@Manney, thanks for that, great content.
0:39 comes close to my experience — but I think I have him beat on that!
Based on all the xCL damage he had, I’ve got to count myself luck in that department.
Knee seems to have survived in ok shape, even though that was initially the most painful point.
Seems like recovery times are really a case by case situation — Not pushing an agenda or expectation in my cased one way or the other.
Thanks again.

I bought some 3.0's today in a local shop in Denver on consignment. There are some 2.1's for sale over at TGR and also here on this forum.Montana St Alum wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 8:39 amIt's hard for me to see the marks on the 3.0 that show where to put your toe. Read the excellent post and paper on BC talk

Lots to absorb. If reading this right (?), mode has a big impact on toe release on the M3.0. Won’t release properly in walk/tour mode. Will release toe in turn/ski mode.

Re: Meidjo Release, Maybe, Maybe NOT
There are two attachment points that resist rotation. One at the tech toe, of course, as you have to apply enough torque to spread the fittings enough to release the boot. I don't think there's enough difference between the 4 small springs on the 2.1 and the 2 on the 3.0 to make much difference there, but of course, that isn't adjustable.Manney wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 5:56 amRead the excellent post and paper on BC talk

If you are in the tech toe but not in the duckbutt (tour mode) you have to rotate hard enough to just release at the tech toe, and the closer your heel is to the ski, the more leverage you'll have available to do that. Also, the more resistance you have to rotating the ski, the more torque you'll be able to apply without rotating the ski. So, long skis, heavy powder and such will hold the ski in place.
As you lift the heel, more and more of that torque will be applied to tipping the ski on edge, Vs. rotating the ski, so you will lose torque in the plane of rotation resulting in release.
That's all true when you add in the duckbutt engagement as well. You can decrease the release resistance at the duckbutt, but even if it were zero, you'd have to overcome the tech fitting resistance.
I've never released from the Meidjo, but have from the Rottefella Freedom several times. On that binding, you can't separate release from activity level, but that binding does release easily, as there is no resistance to rotation at the toe - no tech fitting spring resistance to overcome.
Re: Meidjo Release, Maybe, Maybe NOT
Thanks for that explanation. Lots to think about…
Downloaded the Meidjo 2 user manual… couldn’t find the 3.0 one. Manual said…” Attention: Once you are in touring mode it is impossible to unfit. Always unlock the front lever as soon as you telemark. Not respect this instruction could cause serious injury.”
