You're on the right track. The best thing you can do to survive (if not conquer) bad conditions is upgrade to the T4.
Not develop one's skills?

Good question. Light boots lack the stability and power to handle difficult conditions. Even a seasoned expert with lots of years experience on light gear will get humbled by bad conditions. Those same conditions may not only be skiable with a heavier boot, but they could be fun.

When I'm on light gear, as conditions start to deteriorate I feel as though I need to keep tightening my boots. If after tightening them I still don't get the control I want I know it's time to switch to a plastic boot. Too light of a boot will not be able to keep your skis from being deflected off their track on bad snow.

Makes sense. But I wonder if folks new to this may simply opt for beefier gear rather than developing skill in tackling what may seem to them, being new, as difficult conditions.

Could just be I am stubborn in my desire to develop on light gear, and read too many of greatgt's posts ;)

The greater stability of heavy gear could certainly make you appear to ski better than you would on light gear without having any more skills, but I think there is an optimum gear weight to enhance the learning process. I think the T4 is this optimum weight.

Can the Intuition liner be heat molded at home or need to be done at a boot fitting shop?
You can do it at home. You may also be able to ski them right out of the box as is.

I did something really stupid, and ruined my stock Scarpa liners for my T-4. I ordered per advice via the phone from Intuition, the Logan liner. It actually fits better than the stock Scarpa liner, without any heat molding. The foam seems to be more dense, it is also thinner, and did require me to use the included 4 mm shim under my stock Scarpa footbed. I do tighten the boot further along the the strap, but the fit is better.
Figured I would pass that along.

The Logan Liner indeed looks comfy! Did you have to alter it (cut the top off) to fit into T4?
