Don't bring the Mets into this! They will easily win this season's World Series (even if the heat index is high in August).

City not "upstate"- maybe they have wind chill up there, who knows?

I have not seen you dispute one fact that was presented in either of those articles both written by credible experienced, respected journalists. Joseph Stromberg who wrote the Vox article was a staff writer at The Smithsonian previously and he is now an Internal Medicine Resident at UNC.

"NOAA/NWS and predecessors (e.g. ESSA) based in Silver Spring, MD found "familiar terms" were more useful than data and percentages, i.e. "Don't tell me the Relative Humidity and Barometer reading, tell me if I need to take an umbrella to work!" " < So Republicans/flat-earthers can understand it?

Tonight's forecast: dark with increasing light towards morning. Perhaps NOAA should have just hired George Carlin?

There is a saying that Norwegians are born with skis on their feet, in your case I would venture that you were born with words in your mouth. Your verbosity is only matched by your vapidity. Please try to control your emotions and speak to the facts. You are coming across like a hysterical little girl. If you have some secret knowledge on how wind chill is an accurate scientific statistic please spill the beans. Enquiring minds want to know.

At least you didn't have any personal attacks on you. I had to respond to those but now I am done.

Wind Chill Factor is total bullshit, I have never seen this "stat" or "heat index" outside of the USA. Wind chill is an exaggeration to sell papers or click bait. How cold you "feel" in wind is a total BS stat". Heat Index is just as stupid and deployed for the same reason- to titillate Americans. That said it was fucking cold on Mt Washington yesterday!
@randoskier Just asking... what was your goal when posting that?

Also, @mikesee where are you when we really need you to pinpoint a thread that has nothing to do with the telemark turn... just joking ;)

As for cattle and wind... I don't think they give a damn about this wind chill thread but I sure know they reach for shelter when it's cold and windy.

So again... why did you brought that subject?

@Stephen sorry for this rational post... i know you enjoy those nonsense threads :D

Darn right, cable’s out, I got cabin fever and need the entertainment!

We just need to get all the journalists, little girls, cattle, Hollywood ranchers, cold, waving hands, dumbass meteorologist, and lame-ass general sheeple together, and we could have a real mini-series here.

Oh man, I was doing so good at not stepping into this pile of cow dung…
But, the wind-chill is below freezing, so the cow dung is frozen.
What, wind-chill wont freeze cow dung?
Well then, this wind-chill business is just a bunch of American-breed BS!

Sorry, I know I should have more respect for such scholarly discussions…

To discuss weather issues that effect the planning and execution of ski tours in challenging and harsh conditions and to perform some meteorological myth busting to aid in this process.
