Climbed the top of Äkäskero fell near Ylläs, Finland to catch the sunset!

Peltonen Metsä 270 skin climbed very well, although this was the first outing on them, no wax on bases yet and -15 to -21°C. On my way back, met a fellow on snowshoes carrying up a snowboard for an evening ride

@Theme how many hours of daylight do you have at this time of year? Sure is beautiful country.

Currently sun rises at 10:19 am, sets at 2:52 pm. Count in about 1hr of effective illumination before and after

Out on the Xplores with Alfa Free today.
Wins
- The BOA system on the Alfa Free, switch from slipper to stiff cuff boot in a couple of seconds
- the Xplore system weight boot + binding, impressively light for its performance
- the Xplore step in and remove mechanism. Easy without spending time bent down. Sometimes it happens that i don't click securely but, this can be verified by twisting the heel from side to side and testing for binding play.
- not sure about the hard flexor yet. I definitely prefer the standard for xc k&g.
- downhill control: highly boot dependent of course. The Xplore sole has good torsional stability which is a huge plus. Better than 3 pin cable with Crispi bre, and much lighter. Is it better than 3 PC with an equivalent boot a la Transnordic ? Dunno yet. Today's descent was on a thin powder dusting on top of breakable crust, and i would randomly break through. Would have been tricky on most bindings except for alpine. Results are encouraging.

Roelant, I’m a fisherman, I appreciate cloudy and overcast. I believe this is the clearest day you have posted photos from. Your backyard is stunning! The terrain seems even more interesting than I thought as well.
I will never travel to all the places people post from, but I sure to appreciate all the places I get to see from the guys here on TT! It is quite awesome!

@fisheater i don't mind cloudy weather, but when you live near the Arctic circle (or above like @Musk Ox or @Theme you become a bit of a sun worshipper.
And yes this is literally my back yard, I'm surprised i haven't run into the other forum members from this city yet. The mountains in the distance across the city, Sylan Massif, offer superb multi day tours. They are on the border with Sweden.
