There’s some good choices for gluten free beers- a small brewery in Calgary makes this…
I thought gluten-free beer was only called cider.

My favorites are the Guinness beer and German smoked beer, or Rauchbier, as they call it. The taste of this beer reminds smoked meat a bit. It goes great during BBQ parties.

If I never have another crudely over-hopped IPA again, it'll still be too soon.

Schlenkerla makes a variety of rauchbiers--traditional helles lager, doppelbock, marzen, weiss. Most of the time one only sees the lager but if you get a chance to try their others I highly recommend.

Rauchbier! It’s my favorite, too. It’s hate or love - there’s no in between for most people. Everyone should try it once in their lives. Near Nürnberg you can find it. Well, no real skiing region. But it’s very nice and you can find world class limestone climbing!

In keeping with cleaning out my friend's refrigerator...
Kirkland's Double Bock beer
"best consumed before 06/12/17"
(12 June 2017 for Europeans).

7.5% alcohol by volume, IBU: 26, aged nicely with a long, slow, steady head of foam.
Paired with colby jack cheese and minestrone with Italian sausage after a few hours skiing on back trails.

I took a pass on the gas station ice cream while waiting for the bus across the road from the trail head.
