TRIP REPORT

I am now officially into xcD, where the 'D' stands for 'Denmark'.

The first dump of the season has come to this remorselessly flat country: several whole CENTIMETRES of wet crystallized water.

So I took my Åsnes Nansens with a 30mm mohair XSkin underneath, kissed my wife goodbye, and set off for the hills!

I found two hills.

The first is a Neolothic/ early Bronze Age burial mound about 700 metres from our house. The height is about 5 metres. I skied up it and then I skied down it again.

Image
Literally just pointed my skis downhill and hoped for the best. Ludicrous Speed!

The second hill is also is a Neolothic/ early Bronze Age tumulus about 500 metres from the first. The height is about 5 metres or something. Again, I skied up this one and used gravity to bring me to the bottom.

Image

After this I went home again the way I came (across the beetroot field). At home I had hot chocolate and waffles.

Total distance covered: perhaps 2 (two) kilometers.
Altitude (total): approximately 10 (ten) metres.

Please send help.

The beach was windswept, but the trail had plenty of snow. Now that the deer is hanging I can focus on the truly important things, like skiing.

You asked for help… maybe I can bring a shovel and make one hill out of the 2? As long as you have an endless supply of hot chocolate and waffles :D

Isn't that cultural appropriation?

I was really surprised to see that we received 2-3 feet of powdery snow this week in the Reserve faunique des Laurentides. I had a hard time pushing the trail, uphill specially... The only skis I had were my Glittertind — submarining...
We are getting there!

I can help! I'll sent you some oxygen cylinders so it won't be such a struggle getting all the way up to the summits next time.

Deer Valley today. They'd gotten 65" until last night and then they got another 10" so 75" so far. Alta, of course is at 123" so far. Runs are opening where the only tracks in the 65" previous were ski patrol.

This entire section opened today.

3 more storms are lined up in the north Pacific headed our way!

Dec 2: Another bluebird morning at Deer Valley. Another 10-12" overnight. Another ride up on the first chair.
It's a living heck!
