@lilcliffy Since you ski such long skis I'm curious what made you choose the 180 vs the 188 in this ski.

Looking to ski some tight lines with this ski-
If I had lots of open steep terrain I would definitely have gotten the 188.
This will be a downhill-focused glade ski.
Already have the Storetind in 188 (would have bought it in 180- bought it on clearance- only length they had left)-
wanted to try the new Rabb 68 closer to my height for tight lines.
The new Rabb supposedly more stable than previous gen-
Hard decision though!
Again- if I had the open space- would definitely have gotten the longer length.

Following this with great interest.
Have the same skis ready to be mounted. I’m considering either (a) Voile SB (for T4 or Lundhags) or (b) xplore.
I assume these are in the upper bounds of a xplore ski?
Think these will make great grouse hunting skis!

I’m not sure that NNN-BC or Xplore boots would have enough rigidity to really work that ski….
Maybe if you just wanted light, floaty, gentle turns in nice conditions.
Lest we forget, here is a pair of Merrel Supercomps:

Been thinking the same.
On the other hand, weren’t these skis re-released last year as a part of the xplore collection?
Edit: Here’s the film where it’s demonstrated with xplore and Alfa free.

Well- here's the thing-
My local backcountry skiing is on the edge hemiboreal forest wilderness- with elevations ranging from 100m to 800m.
The forest is VERY dense- skiing through the forest is limited to relatively closed-canopy older forest stands.
The landscape is disected with endless forest trails and woods roads.
Glade skiing through open hardwood forest is incredible.
Skiing through closed-canopy conifer stands- with open understories- is pretty sweet too.
When the snow conditions are ideal- BC downhill skiing in the woods is superb!
But when the snow conditions are not ideal- BC downhill skiing in the woods is not superb- and can be downright sketchy to dangerous.
When the snow conditions are not ideal I tend to stick to trails-woods roads and/or gentle lines through the forest.
When the snow conditions are ideal- I point my skis down and charge!
We got a lot of snowfall- so conditions are often ideal.
And when they are ideal I would not need my T4 on this ski.

Well many skiers are using Xplore- and NNNBC- on 78mm skis (Fischer 112, Madshus M78)- and even ~80mm skis (Voile Objective).
Crister- the Asnes pro- stated that he was very pleased with Xplore (not sure which boot) on Asnes's wider and stiffer Nosi 76.
