I went on a ski tour 3 days ago with starting elevation of 400 m asl. Still plenty of snow here, up to 1m in the flatter areas. It's melting quite fast though.
Edit: from the Trip Report Archive it looks like randoskier had a blast in the North.

Yeah I had fun in Kirkenes, sometimes it is good to do a long ski alone.

I see at the end of the week it will get cold again (both day and night) in Kirkenes-Ovre Pasvik so it should be good skiing there when the thaw feezes over, and on warmer days you can always ski the snow scooter tracks. Not worth my flying up there though.

We have our annual winter Trondelag trip for next year already planned. Going in at Sørli and out down by Steinjker.

Glad to see your report of the trip, Roelant! Edit: Rando I mean, of course!

Further up the Pasvik water system, in the inland, nights have been cold and the snow frozen 12 hours or so a day. Full of sun cups though, being dragged by dogs for 20km this morning left my thighs pretty beaten. Soon I'll head to Lemmenjoki national park for 10 days or so. Forests, bogs and fjells too. Not that many lakes, but a couple of good ones for ice fishing. Last year I was still skiing in that region around May 10th, when around Lake Inari ski season was over by mid April apart from the lake itself.
