Voile Resort Durability?
Voile Resort Durability?
Hey everyone! I'm in the market for a new pair of tele sticks, and have been really captivated by the Voile Manti, I love the shape with a good amount of camber underfoot, but a smeary tail. I'm gonna be doing 50/50 resort and bc next season, so I'm hoping I can find a ski light enough for some long days in the bc, but durable enough to handle some MT rocks in the resort. I'm hoping someone can comment on the durability of Voile skis. I'm pretty easy on my gear, but you know...shit happens. Also looking at the SummitCone Pariah if anyone has any input on those. Thanks!

Re: Voile Resort Durability?
I haven’t heard anything negative about Voile durability. I check into a couple of forums, they are popular skis and I don’t hear much negative about them period. I know a lot of the Voile skis aren’t warranted for Telemark bindings. What I hear the problem is with people skiing T-1’s, Hammerheads on 5, and knee to the ski types. Not that I’m knocking anyone whom skis in that manner, they probably rip faster than me!

This gives you good odds. There are lots of variables: your bindings, boot length, and technique will be among them An awareness of use/abuse goes a long way. Construction on the Manti's looks pretty good for what you're describing. Just throwing this out there, but... my Objectives are now on their 5th mount, all tele bindings. Negates all warranties and rules of thumb. Ain't had no problem. That said... I'm a lightweight, and don't intentionally abuse my gear. On the other hand, I negotiate some funky stuff in the woods. Never taken 'em to the resort, but I think the worst result would be chattering if the snow's hard (talking New England hard... like boilerplate); they're lightweight skis. 'Course a good solid mount matters a lot too.

Re: Voile Resort Durability?
I've been impressed with the durability of my various Voile skis. My ski buddy has run Vectors at the ski hill for 6 or 7 years and those skis are still going strong. I am still skiing the first year Vector bcs and they are still just fine even after several years of 40+ days on them in the woods and I've never been easy on gear.

As far as I know it is mostly the Hyper line that isn’t warrantied for telemark, but I’d likely put inserts in anyway which voids the warranty as well. Not too worried about the warranty on skis though. I’m leaning towards them, it’s just so hard to choose! This is the first time I’ve purchased brand new skis in many years and actually had the freedom of choice.fisheater wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 6:17 pmI haven’t heard anything negative about Voile durability. What are you riding on now?
My ski partner has the Manti's, LOVES them. He's an athletic, aggressive skier. I'm lighter in weight and more focused on finesse and happier on the V6's.
Voile skis are super durable and they ride awesome. I don't flinch for one moment using my Voile's inbounds. I also have a pair of SummitCone Pariah's. Totally different style ride. They are great skis also- but heavier and less finished, a total bull in a china shop. If you were rough on your equipment and skiing low tide all the time and hitting rocks for funzies, I'd say the SummitCones, but if you want a real precision instrument that is as durable as pretty much anything else on the commercial market, the Manti's are good to go.
Pull this trigger, yo

Currently skiing K2 Shreditor 112 in a 183ish length with Axls and BD Kilowatt 175 with Outlaw X. I’m definitely liking the sound of the Manti, the K2s definitely already have the bull in a china shop aspect of skiing covered for me, I’m looking for something I can dance on a bit more. What size Mantis is your partner riding? I’m 5’7” 130lbs, split between the 172 and 176.

He's 5'10" (178cm) and 165-170lbs, muscle-y trim guy but not a bulldozer by any means, he's on the 181-- so about 3cm taller than him. He says it's an incredibly responsive ski edge-to-edge, and it holds a good edge as well for its width on the firmer stuff. He skis the UltraVector in a 177 and the V6 in a 183.czscout wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 10:12 pmCurrently skiing K2 Shreditor 112 in a 183ish length with Axls and BD Kilowatt 175 with Outlaw X. I can see why you're split, you're right at the low end of the weight range for the 176, but if you're already skiing the Shreditor 112 in a 183... I am willing to bet the Manti outmaneuvers that ski easily.
Have you tried calling Voile? They are mega helpful on the phone. They pick up and talk to you, skier to skier.
