Yes, depending on how handy you are. At the cost for these, not too much risk.
Not with scissors, it would take a sharp razor type blade, straight edge, or a ski-trimming tool, or some people do it freehand with a sharp razor knife with the skins on the ski.

regarding the black diamond 60mm nylon skins

I used a skin trimming tool today on one pair of skins. put them on my MT51 as a template and trimmed them. took about 5 minutes. they are now ready for my Skog/Nansen (56mm underfoot).

for 38mm, I suggest putting them on the skinniest ski you own as a template (make sure you know the dimensions) and then just trim them with a skin trimming tool. If the template ski is too wide, offset the skin by the desired amount in mm, trim it, then offset it on the other side and trim again. cut the tail by hand as needed.

Ideally, you want 2mm-3mm on each side of the center zone (about 50-80cm) of the ski not covered by the skin so the edges are exposed. Because these are straight skins, for some tapered skis, near the tip and tail, there will be larger areas not exposed but that won't matter much for nordic BC skis...you just want the metal edges exposed.

I did a quick and dirty job which will be fine for what I will use them for. I think these wall climbers will allow thousands of vertical of climbing....they are almost overkill.

I think Im going to use the other pair of skins as backup for my 175cm Sverdrup.

Please note that the tip loop optimally fits a ski tip roughly between 60mm to 90mm. I tried them on my FT62 (97mm) and they didnt fit well as the FT62 shovel was just too wide. at 60mm for the MT51, it was near the minimum. The Skog tip at 76mm is perfect.

These will be great for Skog/Nansen, Sverdrup, Ingstad, combat nato, Gamme, MT51, MR48, Amundsen.

Skins like this will fit most metal edge XC skis w/60mm waists, and will work well with wider skis in many situations. Trim to length.

I just ordered a pair in 75mm. They were about 10 bucks more than the nnnbc. So, I guess that proves they must be better.

Well Krummholz and Al, I’m counting on some reviews of these boots when you are able. I shouldn’t need a heavy leather 75 mm boot for a long time, but I’m happy to see a new boot being manufactured in the heavy class. Norwegian welt boots are difficult to obtain, and fit is a gamble. It’s good to see a widely marketed boot in the class.
BTW Krummholz, as for cheap old guy, I bought my Alaska 75 on a close out for under $100 to my door. After skiing the Alaska 75, I hope to always have a soft leather 75 mm boot as well!
