Sbounds...leathers
Re: Sbounds...leathers
Started out on a logging road then entered the wilds and left everything behind....Snow totals up there are impressive....10-20 inches with no snow for weeks....Winds have blown it into sweet spots and that's where I got to.....teleking had been up there the day before and had continued up to Burl Tree and over to Telecamp....I headed to an unskied hardwood North facing cold slope and got some wonderful Tele turns....Saw some very distant tracks from over a month ago.....The up trail was wonderful on the way down as the 99's really booked....left some decent turns there also.....Been an up tick of snowshoers up in the Highlands....Figure when they see what can be done on Nordic equipment they will move on to skis.....Looking forward to snow later today and the rain right now will give a wicked good base for tomorrow if the Doc doesn't rage about what he is going to do to my hand....Bag it!....One handed turns doesn't sound bad with a foot of fresh....TM
Re: Sbounds...leathers
Boy did i ever do wrong......Couda woulda shoulda but.....So headed up with somewhere around 14-18 inches of fresh on 8-10 inches of old powder...Broke up a short knob and did exactly what any competent BC skier would NOT do....Last time I skied these was at least two weeks ago and figured the wax from then might work!...Right!!!!!....Coulda stopped and re waxed....Nope!.....Shoulda put the skins on.....Nope!.....Woulda done that but stupidity took over....Skis seemed kinda squirrely.....Didn't break all that much but it was a huge workout which was reasoned in as being good!....Right!!!!! On the top I investigated the skis and found one screw of the three on my right ski gone with the other two in the process of following....Bag it headed down and with the snow so deep was able to do straight shots that avoided trees....The Boys did better after breaking a thousand on Little Mountain.....Telekid and Teleking got some sweet powder up there after Telekid put his car in the ditch....Ah....the wonders of powder....TM
Re: Sbounds...leathers
Repeated the ski up in the Highlands and some skiers had discovered my up track and had scored on the zone i wanted so skied down and headed to another site on Little Mountain.....Boys were out of camp and skiing the higher elevations....Heard them up there so grabbed a chair, beer, and sat back....Down they came with Telekid who oooing and awing....saw powder explode over his head as did Teleking the next one down....Looking good!!!!!! Telewood had problems and lost his confidence which came back when he switched with Telekid for TK"S longer same ski....He totally blasted and confidence was restored....just a little longer ski made the difference that day....Telewheels who we haven't seen since covid showed up and Telewood tried out his (Vectors?)....He became a monster sucking up all powder and denuded the slope of all powder....He had never been on as good a ski....That was fun to watch....I tried out Telekids 110 Rossi and they sure as hell did better than the old S bound Boundless(?)....Telekid skied those out....Ribeye and onions did the deed for food and the beer was ice cold....Excellent ski day was had by all....in @ 20-24 inches of bottomless powder....Really good day....TM
Re: Sbounds...leathers
Snow is consolidating but the powder remains in good shape only a lot faster....Will head out to an unknown spot in the Highlands and get some moderate sloped powder that faces North.....Hope to see some Moose tracks up there around BURL junction....Teleking was up that way about a week ago and there were some tracks....Also the usual....Fischer and Coyotes.....Coyotes love ski tracks!!!!! Re: Maple syrup- split a peach length-wise, brush with olive oil, throw it on a wood-fired grill 'til its a bit golden, put a big dollop of mascarpone on it, drizzle maple syrup over it, and sprinkle with crushed walnuts. Enjoy.greatgt wrote: ↑Mon Aug 27, 2018 7:18 amRiding skinnies is a blast!.....Shock absorbers (big camber) is the cream made with a dollop of Maple Syrup on chocolate pudding....Fischer makes skis with a softness that allows one to play with that camber while riding....Drop into a dip and weigh both skis down....Up you come with the camber releasing and unweighing releases you for a moment in time...Weightless your skis maneuver effortlessly....So easy and thrilling you don't even know what happened as your on a new virgin track....S..ing...arcing....trees whizzing by.... camber so maligned is a good thing...Teleking and Telekid like catching air and those shock absorbers really help...Teleman

Thanks Rando! We make our own Syrup so a quick purchase of mascarpone and walnuts would be a great dessert....TM
Re: Sbounds...leathers
Surprise yesterday when I skied a line on Teleknob....No tracks as nobody else would break up there....Nice run down with to short old pair of 109's....Still went in to much but where it got a bit steeper the skis picked up.....Will hit it again today with a wider and longer set and hope to melt some snow....TM
Re: Sbounds...leathers
Wax and bones.....length and width....lessons learned on bottomless.....So have used wax most of the time but yesterday used the patterned bottoms (bones)....The bones were wider than the old e109's and I figured they would float in the light 18 inches of powder......Nope! needed much bigger and longer....It happens every few years when this kind of powder appears....Few years back got a set of Noodles from out West....Dostie sold them to me and I have to say they really work well in the unconsolidated deep....(16-20 inches of fluffy new on top of 8 inches of heavier powder) However they are clunky and heavy so almost always seek out the skinnier, lighter and waxable skis.....Today was supposed to head back up and use my 190 newer 109's....But have to see the Doc for some crooked claw hands that will be straightened back out....Bones have been retired and my 109's then the boundless then the Noodles.....all waxable and fast....So in my opinion and the opinion of many others is wax is faster, less resistance, and goes up hill and cruises better.... Far as length and width....The wider bones did not handle these conditions as well as the skinnier, faster skis.....Went wider but that was worse than the skinnier slicers....Can't finish the deal because of the Doc....Man the ski world was beautiful yesterday.....Blue sky, tons of Sun....wide open tree skiing....and only one set of tracks, mine....TM
