Asnes Falketind 62 vs Falketind Xplore
I bought last winter an FT62 (green) that I skied a few times with my Garmont Excursion boots. I loved the ability to downhill from this ski in terrain with a firm base but with fresh snow between 5 and 10cm. However, the performance of this ski off-piste for flat sections is not very interesting. The first ski was a 180cm and then I bought a 188cm to see the same thing as on the flat sections the glide was average despite a very short waxing. Asnes touts its new ski, which it calls the FT Xplore, saying the camber is a little stiffer and performance on the flat is improved. Has anyone among you had the opportunity to try this new ski and draw some conclusions?

Yes, the kick and glide is dramatically improved. That I can report. Acceptable for an XC ski on a consolidated base, and also very good in soft snow.
It is also much more stabile in deep snow.
Those are the only definitive statements I care to make currently.

If I understand correctly, you bought this new ski recently. And downhill does it still turn as well even if the camber is a little stiff ?

I’m happy with how the Xplore turns. I’m not ready to compare it to the original yet. It’s easy to say it kicks and glides, or that it is stabile in deep snow. I need to make a lot of turns in different types of snow before I start commenting on it’s downhill performance. It isn’t surfy in soft powder like the original.Axamer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 6:57 pmThank you #fisheaterfisheater wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 4:05 pmYes, the kick and glide is dramatically improved.
