Sbounds...leathers
Re: Sbounds...leathers
Feel kinda lucky to have what we have....Will hit the Highlands mid morning and do some easy turns....Anywhere from 6-9 inches up there and hope to get a bit more soon.....Slow start this year and have been spoiled because November....NOVEMBER ......has been setting us up for a few years....But not this one....Hope you get tons out there...Powder here is very fast and if you can run your skis flat.....some decent turns can be had....Teleman
Re: Sbounds...leathers
Highlands again as it has the most snow....Teleking and I did about three miles of seeing, cruising, and getting a serious workout....Far as Tele is concerned Teleking flew down a side old logging road with some serious drops....He got dropped and was proud to show the blood....next to his eye.....Me I took the up hill track down and had many really decent laid back Tele turns...At my age waiting for better conditions before I hit the steeps....TM
Re: Sbounds...leathers
Sun and cold @4o......6-9 inches of powder , no base.....Been cruising ridges of Hardwoods and the visuals are wonderful...Still a few "Old Growth hardwoods left after the logging.....Gigantic crowns....Run the skis flat and make easy turns without digging the edges in and all is well....Teleking after doing a couple of miles tracked me down and we skied out together....Need snow!....TM
Re: Sbounds...leathers
Telekid and Teleking were out of sight as his oldie got his skis moving...@20o and it stayed there all day....Snow was good with 6-8 inches with more here and there.....Super run as we glided across dead Moose Pond and entered Murk Woods one at a time.....Up and over dead trees and getting whipped by whips now and then....Entered hardwoods and it was grey.....Trees, branches limbs and erratic's all covered in the same color....All the clouds and mist was the same color....Fire in the stove at TK1 sure wasn't grey but it took Telekid to get some semi dry wood from fallen trees to build up the heat on oru ledge with a outta this world fireplace.....Cleaned up the camp, had a couple of brews and more or less FLEW out of camp and life was great!....Had on my old E109's, short and easily turned......While in camp we discussed razor crust and thin crust.....but.....it was pretty fast and the turns held fast while cruising....had to fly over debris and avoid trees and it was good.....these early sessions build balance and is great for conditioning......Mostly though it's about the fellowship of brothers of the forest.....Beautiful ski!....Teleman
Re: Sbounds...leathers
8-10 inches of snow and in the upper teens.....Mostly grey with an opening of blue at the end of the ski.....Just a few turns mostly being out in nowhere observing and using skills to ski over downed trees and run the skis flat to avoid any contact below.....Lots of tracks with Deer still way up on the high ridges eating tons of buds...Thanks given as they and the Moose keep the openings open......Will hit a section today with lots of openings and a bit more snow.....TM

Running the ski flat! I was out on my first ski, 4” of heavy snow, twisty downhill, ski on edge, hit a big rock under the snow, over the bars tuck and roll. I don’t think I’m ever going to fully grow up!greatgt wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 5:02 am8-10 inches of snow and in the upper teens.....Mostly grey with an opening of blue at the end of the ski.....Just a few turns mostly being out in nowhere observing and using skills to ski over downed trees and run the skis flat to avoid any contact below.....Lots of tracks with Deer still way up on the high ridges eating tons of buds...Thanks given as they and the Moose keep the openings open......Will hit a section today with lots of openings and a bit more snow.....TM
It’s great to be sliding again!

Remember something from summer camp....sorta....."any man who losses the boy in him is no man".....Fish last Spring I demolished my shoulders.....Ripped this tore that.....when i go down.....the only way to get back up is to release my skis....Thats compensation for age.......bummer......did get some decent turns today in mashed potatoes....skis were easily deflected on the down up track.....when in the forest it was totally grey but the turns were decent.....Need snow! Thinking we or somebody should have a thread reporting "great" crashes.....KTB have had their share, as have I....and gear destruction......wicked......TM
Re: Sbounds...leathers
High 20's, blue extra wax with a bit of red under foot....4-6 inches of breakable crust with fast almost ball bearing powder underneath.....Didn't turn much as this was a "conditioner!"......Right!......Took longer going down than going up....Good news the wax departed on the down.....Today probably do some low angle unless there is some powder on unbreakable crust....That might entice me into a longer cruiser......Problem is......trees are getting bigger.....whips own the world......downed logs and limbs are getting slipperier....well the old short 109's with about half the camber left.....top sheet glued on several times....could be the the ski......99's a bit to long with so little snow....could use some sharp edges....snicker.....laugh......but that is a distant memory.....should be a good one....TM
Re: Sbounds...leathers
-4o grey with some sun......iced trees with powder on top made for great visuals......Teleking in another life was a logger.....Sure made that saw work in Murk Woods.....Made the narrow track skiable rather than working on Mountain Goat skills......breakable crust with a bit of powder.......funny how it didn't feel that cold and Telekid.....liked your tracks up on Tele Knob!!!!!! Need snow and we will start paying homage to the Snow gods....TM
Re: Sbounds...leathers
Was watching the Weather Channel and chuckled at what i saw.....Along the coast a decent storm heading North. Another storm was parallel to the first, over central New York.....We sit in the middle....."Cloudy" with no precip"....Thats us....lucky to have 4-6 inches with breakable crust.....Telekid skied on his largest skis and was able to master it all....Have an old pair of Boundless which might get a ride today.....will see....TM
