My first set of boots were in Austria where a cobbler made them....They were also my first ski boot and they were used on my mothers Northland, 6 and a half foot maple boards....Turning was not all that much of an option....beartrap bindings and release was when hitting hard....flying out of the boots were feet and socks....Boots stayed with the bindings and skis....pretty funny when your running down a ski area after the skis boots and bindings...TM

Again, Of course it's for real! What do you think? November 2014 issue of Backcountry Magazine, page 89. (Told you I had some very cool new quotes to put up there... : )
climbed with crampons and ice axes and grows on the steep shit out here,
Crampons and ice. That tells a lot isn't it? I'm skiing fresh powder 6 months a year here in the East for free. Why would anyone work all year long in order to afford to ski 'bad snow' a few times a year in a super expensive town? I'd rather do 3-4k every day than 10k once a month. (Vertical feet, not money... ; ) But that's just my humble opinion...

People 'promoting' stuff, by definition, always have personal interests in doing so. There was some other very interesting quotes in that article called "Tele Dayz", looking back on the ski scene 20 years ago.

Fun and acceptance, that's it. And I should add, once again, an ounce of compassion for all of those who will never know the joy of pins and leathers.

Pictures Teleman!! Send some pictures of your mother to Ron for scanning!

I hear ya on the $$$ that seems to be extracted back east for skiing..
The situation out here is just nothing like that..5 hills all within 1-2 hrs of us..
For about 400 bux we can ski at least 2 areas with endless SC and off-groomer possibilities and we can still clomp off into the "BC" and catch a ride out at the end of the day..
10 bux you get a one-ride in and out if ya wanna go up in the Basin..
Image
Bad snow ? Not-so-much.. But it varies with weather , like anywhere..
Super expensive town ? Closest thing we have would be Sandpoint..And a season pass can be had for about 600 bux if you don't mind skipping Saturday shitshows..And I am cheap, so usually just go there on Sunday afternoons for ..25 bux! And night skiing is 15 I think..
These are taken between runs..inbounds..ppl are spoiled and lazy on the Bitterroot Crest!

Man, that's pretty cheap... Midweek pass here is about 700$... (I know, this is about the most expensive pass in Canada... Well I mean, for what it's worth...)

I have a special pass... For 900$, I get unlimited skiing anywhere in Quebec. One pass, 70 different resorts to choose from! That is pretty cool... Unique in North America...
