Do we know if this is true? I don't think I have read/seen anything that would suggest it is any different...
I should be able to handle and flex both of these "new" models in my local shop in the coming weeks...
Telemark Pyrenees is very clear that the E99 and Transnordic 66 are the same.

The E109 vs TN82 is a different matter. The length change, for one is the biggest indicator (if 1 model changed length why not all of them then). I am going north in a few days where some Fischer skis are stocked, I'll bring my metric tape. Usually the Fischers chord length comes out 3cm shorter than published-- so a 205 is 202, a 199 is 197. I'll see if this holds true with the the new-length skis (that end in 6).

Good to have you back, Gareth!

Couple of observations....The 82 is better on the down than the 99 (66)....99 is better in most everything else....Also get the waxable.....They accelerate faster......cruise better and do the down better than bones.....Both do great in the deep but if you have bottomless and the skis sink way in......bummer......At that point you need a wider ski to bring the skis up.....Around here that happens but not all that often.....Have the old 109's and I like them better than the rockered 109's....Like the skinnier 109's better too....A gain both skis turn wicked but you have to be the pilot....They don't turn for you....TM

Hmmm...
But why does the 78&88 have a different "length" this year? Have they been redesigned and are actually a different length this year?

It would be really cool if the TN82 was redesigned and- in particular- has a more stable shovel...
And- if Fischer have done this to the TN82- perhaps the "new" TN66 is more stable than the last-gen E99 as well?

DISCLAIMER-

I have made a series post this week regarding the Fischer Transnordic 66&82.
Please ignore all of them. I was speaking of my experience with the E99 & E109 Xtralte.
I really have no idea if these skis are the same or have been redesigned.
Sorry if I produced any misinformation.

They are all Xtralite now. Different factory for different models? Maybe the factory fire last year shifted things around a bit. Maybe to reflect accurate lengths? Then why not the Sbound 98 and 112?

I will check.

Fischer have wisely made only minor updates to these skis, the flex and sidecut stay unchanged, with only minor changes in the build plus of course a new topsheet.

RIGHT! That is where I read that!
And I think I read or watched similar comments from the folks at Aventure Nordique.
My current impression remains:
2021-2022 TN66 = 2020-2021 E99 Xtralite
2021-2022 TN82 = 2020-2021 E109 Xtralite

Curious and a bit off topic, but does Aventure Nordique ship to Canada? I tried shopping there but their website says it won't ship a set of skis to Ontario.

Ok- so you actually would prefer a waxless-scaled ski? Don't take the TN66 Crown to the Laurentians.
There is no Crown-version of the TN82.
Do you want a waxless-scaled ski for the Laurentians as well?
I missed this post last week - what do you recommend for the Laurentians in that case? Waxless or waxable

---

For a quick update on my search...
- I found a store in Quebec that has the TN66 Crown in 200cm that will ship to me
- I reached out to Sportalbert about the Gamme and they told me it wouldn't deliver until Jan. 24, 2022 now
- I might hold out longer and see what LaCordee gets (hopefully in the next couple weeks) or if Neptune receives more Gamme stock (they said possibly by mid-November)

In other words: my 21/22 outfit is clear as mud....

Hi. I've not looked at the responses you've had so far, so maybe this has been mentioned already.

I too would be seriously focusing on the Fischer Transnordic series (old e89/e99/e109) if I didn't take another path already. This series has a strong appeal for the skiing I enjoy.

I had done a fair amount of XCD/BC skiing in eastern Ontario and Quebec when I lived there 20-30 years ago.

For that terrain and snow I would either pick one ski to do it all (Transnordic 66, Otto, Gamme, Nansen, etc), or look for bigger differences in a two ski quiver. Sticking with the Transnordic skis, I would be much more tempted by a TN59/TN82 quiver. Personally, it would be much easier to pick the better ski for the day with that split, and based on my skiing there having a TN59 class ski made a lot of sense (it was my most used ski by far).

Best of luck.

Tom

I'd suggest waxable plus easy skin (whatever that is in Fischer lingo) as providing the most flexibility in an xcd/bc ski for your area. You can adjust accordingly to the snow conditions and terrain. YMMV.
