Mounting 75mm bindings on Voilé UltraVector BC

I read the amazing post in the wiki section about mounting telemark bindings and I was wondering if anyone had more specific advice for where I should mount a set of Switchback X2s on a pair of UltraVectors?

I plan to use them for touring for turns in the backcountry in the laurentians. So a wide variety of snow conditions depending on what time of the season, from powder to crud to spring corn.

Also anyone know if the white ones have any markings at all? from the pictures it looks like they don't...

I have talked to people and have read as well. People seem to like the Voile mounting point, and despite the fact Voile does not warranty Telemark mounted skis, if you email them they will provide the pin lin.

I have just been through this exercise with Voile Objective and NNN BC bindings.
Maybe you already know, but Voile has binding location instructions here: https://www.voile.com/sbc

If your boots have pin holes, then you are set. Use those to determine “Boot center” per Voile’s instructions.

There has been talk here about adjusting the binding position back 2cm.
I was unsure about doing that, so moved them back 1cm — not much.

The more I think about it, if the skis are being used in a general way (rather than specifically for powder, for example), then I’m thinking Voile’s instructions are good.

There’s plenty of knowledge to tap here.

It’s quite common to see the recommendation of -2 cm for powder. If you live in Utah, with a normal winter, sure but if you’re skiing a wide range of conditions the manufacturer’s bcl is probably spot on.

Voile does have a clear chart with their suggested mounting point for each ski. I found this to be too forward on my Objective's with 75's; I went with this for a season, and found it kind of awkward both for touring and turning. I did adapt my turning technique, but didn't like the style it required.

Sweet spot for me is about 3.5cm behind their line. Seems to me the recommended point is geared toward "new school", downhill oriented performance, with a more forward, driving the ski style. Present location allows me a more naturally centered technique, and a more upright stance. Bettter for breaking trail in deeper snow as well.

Agree with Phoenix. Reduces tip dive as well. I've been going -2 with success, -3 on the V6 which is very forward, comparatively. Much better!

This was hijacked to objective mounting thread. I mounted mine NNNBC around -2cm from the pinline calculated from recommended boot center location. The balance point was 3-4cm back from the rec'd mounting position if I remember correctly, so these are still mounted a few cm in front of BP. I basically split the difference between recommended mounting position and BP.

I ?think I like this position for soft snow xcD but don't have much experience with alternative mountings (nor skiing rockered fat skis with leather xc boots). Tips stay plenty high in powder when skiing on your toes. They generally feel balanced.

Indeed, which is one of the reasons I went with the Ultras.

Though in reality even for the lighter skis I don't think it would be an issue given that I wouldn't drive them hard with heavy boots on groomers. Not the best skis for that I imagine.
