Re: Asnes FT62 - 180cm vs 188cm
Axamer, my FT are mounted 3pin cable no riser. I ski them backcountry and on piste. I have taken the ski well beyond what the ski was designed for. No issues for me without a rise.
I would not have a riser on my FT. I have never skied them with my T4 plastic boot, I never saw the need.
That is just what works for me. Everyone has their own preference.

@fisheater Indeed. I dared not claim that my set up was the best. But it is rather the one that I have used for a long time and I am satisfied with it. I know you have 188cm FT62s like mine. I have the green model and yours? Red or green? I was wondering if you had seen the photo of my binding resting on the ski and how long it was from where you hook the skin. By looking at the photo you can see the point of measurement.fisheater wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 10:20 pmAxamer, my FT are mounted 3pin cable no riser. I ski them backcountry and on piste. So are mine.
As for risers, last year I had simple 3 pin/cables on my 188 and this year I have HW mounted on Traverse risers for the 196. I am really tempted to remove the risers as I think I had a better connection with the snow without risers. It really is a feeling as I last skied my 188 in 2020 March or April. There has been a lot of discussion on to use risers or not. It probably come down to personal preference depending on the context you mostly use your skis on. But I can say that I skied my Rabb with risers this year at Tremblant and I had a real hard time as compared to last year when I skied them with simple 3 pins/câble. But the thing with 3 pins is that there is only 3 screws in the ski which is not a lot, I think, when skiing with plastic bouts like the T4. But that is only an assumption. But one more factor to consider for this year, is that I was still tired from skiing the Canadian Ski Marathon the week before when I skied 100 km over 2 days in mostly -20C... well, we need an exhaustive study on the subject of risers... any graduate student looking for a thesis subject on the forum

@Nitram Tocrut With a 10mm riser from Voilé, I think that's the maximum to be considered. I wouldn't go more than that.

When I measure in the manner of your photo I have 10 inches. My Falketind is the original red and white modelAxamer wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 12:42 am@fisheater Indeed. @fisheater thank you. But I think about it ... You calculated this from your binding while I calculated it from the start of the riser. So basically I understand that your binding is closer to the notch in the skin than mine.
