Panorama M62: contradictory reviews...

I'm not sayin it's not good skiing I'm just sayin it's always good conditions. No jump turns on steep hard pack and no crud busting where the snow flies in chunks not powder, but that's OK because they are skiing the conditions they have. It's gotta get crappy sometime though.

I had to try this light telemark myself too. Madshus M62 185cm, Super Telemark with cable, and Asolo Doubles on piste in soft conditions. Perfect! It worked a lot better than expected, and I could ski confidently blue and red slopes. Navigating downhill with leather boots is quite a fun feeling. I see no reason to use the heavy gear anymore when skiing with kids. We are more on the same level now. But the soft fun is over for this season. A dust storm from Sahara just dropped sand and supercooled rain at 62 degs northern latitude, on top of 25 cm fresh powder. Quite annoying.

I received mine a week ago... I am surprised; it feels very solid — and a little on the heavy side. I mount ST on them (was supposed to put Villom cables, but it was not what I thought...). Can wait to try them...

Wow, these are great! Very good equilibrium between tracking and turning. In fact they are much turnier than the Glitt. And more stable. I'll do a full review once I get more experience out of em...

Rod are you using wax or skin inserts? Can you use wax, and if you are slipping, can you switch to the skin?

I am using wax. The base — a sintered Electra P2000 — is excellent to receive kick wax; I know it from experience with the Glitt.... Yesterday, I've used full skin to go up the mountain. I still do not have the intelligrip blah blah transition skin; the attachment seems very flimsy. I'll do en myself in the shop after I buy some skins by the roll. But it is great with wax.

Everywhere, we here that this is the same ski as a Eon. BS. Not at all. Heavier, with a significant rocker in the tips, bid metal edges too (I don't recall about the ones on Eon; from memory, they seem smaller). When I got them, it felt like the old silver E99 or E109 version... Definitely a ski to consider... Of course, you should never trust a review from a guy that just bought a new pair of skis. I'll wait a bit before I do a full review.I don't want to add BS to all the BS out there...

I have a pair of 195's coming. Going to mount 3 pin Viole's with cables. I agree the skin attachment looks a little flimsy and the one I saw mounted at the ski shop was slightly off and protruding about 1mm. More careful application could avoid this. I'm getting one set of the Madshus skins, but I also want to make some custom skins as well. Rod, I'm curious to see what you come up with for your custom skins.
Now all we need is for a polar vortex to blow this heat wave down south where it belongs!

I also have some of these on order that I'm waiting for (as I watch the thigh-deep snow outside melt everyday with this heat in NY). I bought a pair of skins to try out, but am also very interested in making some with some roll stock. So I would be really interested in hearing how anyone makes any attempts at that.

Regarding the factory-bought skins though - how many times can you typically apply them and remove them before the glue fails? Do you use heat to do it? Can you buy glue to reapply if loses stiction?

Don't worry about the glue... it will last you a long time. It's the attachement that's made in crap-a-roony; it's not rare that guys break em. Sooo... that's why I want to DIY some...
