One of the advantages of being far to the north is you don't run into sun effected powder until about now or a little later. In Pa. I can have a sun crust on the solstice.

11:30 AM??? Between you Mr Musk Ox and Verskis, I am starting to appreciate living at 42 40 N. At least at 11:30 AM the sun would bear some semblance of being at an apex, a far south apex, but an apex. Your sun looks like maybe 9 AM here.
In Tromsø due to the polar night, there is no sun in the valleys from November 21 to January 21, but I could live definitely there! Just look at this scenery (not my videos). Ski until well into June :D. Plus the town is rather nice by Norwegian standards!

The mountain they’re skiing in the second video is the mountain in the middle of the last picture I posted! That’s our house mountain. I’ve hiked it many times. You can theoretically do it with leather boots on skinny skis but it’s very, very much a theory as far as I’m concerned.

The three months of darkness is quite a thing.

It is nothing compared to all these mountain scenes ...

But it is real nice at Saugatuck Dunes right now. Lots of snow that came down cold and stayed cold. Nothing is melted and refrozen. There is enough on the ground to cover all the small brush and downed trees in some areas.

I made some turns off the trail. Fun.

I love my old Heli Stinx and T2s in this stuff.

Day 56

Yesterday, 6" of heavy snow over ego bumps!

I took the city bus up to Silver Lake and while people at the bottom were waiting for the lower lifts to open, I got out to the upper lift early....
Then the lift opened 15 minutes early and somehow I found myself almost alone. Heading up for run #3.
Now if I could find the guy who crossed my tracks!

And it was 40 degrees warmer than where you are, thank God!
Hence the heavy wet snow....

He's the one and only Lo-Fi from Telemark Talk!
It would be great to see more videos from him, it's been a while since the last one.
