help me find a 3-pin 75mm boot that won't explode here in the hills

Ahh Snowfields. Know them well. My pair was a torture device that I stuck with for years.

I was happy when the sole delaminated ... until I realized that 75mm leathers were unobtanium. Found another brand/model in the right size in the attic of the shop mounting my Axl's after a long time searching. These ones fit me well.

I had forgotten the unique combination of ankle support and supple flex of the toe box and sole...
Narrow heel-ankle- moderate width-toe box- moderate volume-

Thes boots haven't been tested yet due to the low snow base out there-

Though they have been whispering to my Storetind through the wood frame of my house...
I brought the Storetind up to meet the EXTREEEEME this evening.
Has snowed here all day.
Tomorrow's the day.

Gareth, I wish you hundreds and hundreds of happy and comfortable miles on the new Extremes! The boot an entire class was named for! If I read the history correctly, in the beginning there was the Extreme, and it was good!

Almost new! Varg Morgedal-

Size 43- a bit big but I can get a surprisingly good fit with my thick wool insoles.
This boot ↑ is more what I was looking for.

The Asolo Extreme is great downhill, but very restrictive for XC skiing and climbing. For all of that restriction I might as well be in my plastic boots...

Great find there Gareth with the varg. I have the same pair in size 42 and really like them. They are light and made by Andrew in Italy. I got mine off a Norwegian. How did you get yours?

I bought them off Ebay- they were from Europe- very good price including shipping. (I cannot understand how it is often cheaper to ship to Canada from Europe than it is from the USA...)
These are the 3-pin boots that I will use the most I am thinking- as long as they are not too big...
Are you treating the fabric between the leather tongue and the leather sides of the boot? I am thinking that silicone spray might keep that fabric water resistant...

I have not skied them enough to consider waterproofing that fabric. I’m sure it’s fine as is. These boots are relatively soft. I use my sydpolen and Alico one buckle more

This pair are not broken in yet- the sole is stiff- as stiff as the Ski March- stiffer sole than the Asolo Extreme.

Late to the party.

Crispi Antarctic - been on these almost exclusively for many years and many miles. I've had more than one pair and through the years sizing seems to move around a bit. Otherwise they are an amazingly durable, comfortable, supportive boot. If long distance touring, in rugged terrain, is what you like then I've yet to find a better boot. For my terrain they offer support but can also kick and glide super well.

That said, I sit here in a brand new pair of Alpha NNN BC boots. I don't expect them to be better than the Crispis. Its just that the availability of a good 75mm 3 pin is diminishing and want to be prepared for when I may be forced to move on. Also, most any solid 75mm 3 pin will be a bit heavy. As my clumsiness on narrower, lighter skis has diminished over the years I'm leaning more on a lighter set up - you see, with age the motor is not getting any stronger. Stuff I use to ski on an E109 I'm now skiing on an Asnes Admusen or even the classic old Fischer BC Country wax ( I need a 205 btw). With in the next week I'm pulling a Voile 3 Mountaineer of a set of lighter skies and installing a NNN BC binding and will give the Alphas a go. Still, can't see ever completely giving up a good 3 pin.
