Wow, you took full advantage of that snowfall!! It sounds wonderful.

This rainstorm has washed away the last of the snow in Philly, too, alas. I'm hoping to be more prepared next time snow falls. Have an excellent time in Ak.

It's back on. No tree skiing, but the grassy logging roads should ski fine with about 5" of coverage.

It was pretty good. Snow was a little wet on the verge of clumpy but no problem. Good for no wax skis.

It should be good tomorrow.

I feel like I'm in ski country, the lady in line next to me at the super market was wearing xc ski boots. She said there was good coverage at Gouldsboro State Park. I skied every day this week, good stuff.

No ice??! My local kettle lakes have ice, but also open water from springs. The big water is open, but I’m done paddling until March. I was on Lake Erie in December, it was below freezing, aluminum double blade paddle on big water. My thumbs still aren’t right from some minor frostbite.
I have have a lot of packed into ice snow now. I’m happy, it will be real nice with a couple inches on top!

The upper picture is snow on the ice . It's about 6' thick with some open spots from springs. The snow was real nice, the sun was out and I had a blast.

Interesting heel pieces on those Insanes Al. They look quite “rustic”. :D

It shouldn't be surprising for a guy who skis in jeans. I have limited gear here in Pa and don't know how I ended up with SBs w/o heel risers. I grabbed the first piece of hard wood I could find which was a piece of a handle from a sledge hammer that I shortened. I've been thinking of putting them on all my skis because hey are the only heel pieces I have that don't allow snow build up. ;)

It’s still skiable in my neck of the woods. That five inches has been holding up for ten days so far. As it got thinner it got tougher and gave better protection from the rocks than when it first fell.

It still skied well
