I avoid "Sno-Seal" or any wax-based treatment- wax does not condition leather and it will prevent adhesives from bonding.
Fat does condition leather, but it also weakens it and will ruin the effectiveness of non-leather interior liners.
You will not "wreck" your boots with a few outings but get some leather boot treatment ASAP and get in the habit of applying some after every tour on any of the flex and wear points. A water-based treatment will penetrate more effectively when the leather is wet. Just a few seconds of treatment after every tour makes a massive difference in the longevity of the leather and you will also get a more custom fit and more effective lacing.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I got out this weekend and the skiing was great! The Hydrobloc arrived in the mail on Saturday, so I gave the boots a good coating of that too, no bacon fat though, haven't had bacon in a while, maybe I will tomorrow...
