Scored my first 99's bout 4 decades ago....Have tried many skis but when I pin those skis on.....magic....really pleased with telekid getting a new set....he is the future of skinnies in serious places....I'm the past and trying to keep up....Course if the boys are on bones and cruising...even an oldie can keep up with 99's....On the down.....they fly.....TM

I've been experimenting with different skins on my e99s. Pomoca Climb Pros (100% mohair) cut to about 18 inches, provide really nice grip and glide.

Woods, is this the same ski as the E99, or a different iteration, with different characteristics?

That's an early version of the E99. No nordic rocker! A real crust buster that one. I think this one has aluminum edges. The green ones due, not sure about these blue ones. The E99 has been around for 40 years. It's been through a lot of different version.
Ooh! Ooh! The wax marks! tres sexy!

Super hack! I love it. Are you going to try to do something a bit more permanent than the clips?Lars_Danner wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 3:24 pmI've been experimenting with different skins on my e99s. Pomoca Climb Pros (100% mohair) cut to about 18 inches, provide really nice grip and glide.

I don't think I need anything beyond the clips--60 miles so far--but, if you have a suggestion, I am all ears.Woodserson wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 5:41 pmSuper hack! I love it. Just keep us informed on how it works. Sixty miles and still going is pretty awesome!
Re: Unapologetic love note to the Fischer E99
I am stoked to see that. I was going to order a set for my S112s, but I like that you made your own. My thought would be to sew hook and loop to the inside (where you have the clips. Slip it through and then fold over the velcro to lock it on the top side. But if the clips work...why not. if the tips of the EZ Skins were available like the BD Tail Strap kit, then you could make any skin work.Lars_Danner wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 6:48 pm

Re: Unapologetic love note to the Fischer E99
I've always wanted a pair of E99s....or at least for the past, uh, 15 years. I have had this notion of the E99s as a really solid touring ski with metal edges, etc. etc., but if you were feeling frisky, you could let 'em rip (perhaps risking life & limb) at the lift area. If you turn them, you were worthy.
In fact, the only time I really saw E99s in action was when my friend and I took advantage of the canned food drive at the local lift area (7 cans got a lift ticket), and as much as he tried tried to rip on them, he finished the day absolutely thrashed--but impressive nonetheless!
I'm much more of a climber and cyclist than a skier, but some winters, I get PSYCHED, and I unearth my passion for skiing. And so it is this winter. As a result, a couple weeks ago I found myself perusing the local craigslist ads, when suddenly, there they were: E99 Crowns, 195cm (perfect)...$45!! What's more, the seller apparently lived less than a mile away from my house! Needless to say, I emailed the seller immediately, and he was happy to have me check them out. His garage was full of very well-used skis--much as my shop is full of well-used bikes. The E99s looked a bit thrashed, but I was in love. I scooped them up with a huge smile on my face...and the seller was happy for me!
I took them out for the first time today, and I had a blast. Soooooo happy I finally found these!
