Spent the day weedwacking the trails at Whaleback, helping get it ready to SHRED! Leave turnin'!

(weedwacking all day at stuff that has been growing all summer on a steep incline is hard! New appreciation here for the unsung heroes who mow/weedwack the trails... I suggested sheep/goats for next year)

Fred we are going to need this year’s GPS downhill speeds as well. Just kidding, but you really get a lot out of your FT’s.
Cheers! Here’s to good snows!

That makes me hungry!
Cross-country AND down-hill skiing in the backcountry.
Unashamed to be a "cross-country type" and love skiing down-hill.

From last Friday. Not many ski hear, but its about a mile inside the Spout Springs boundary which excludes snowmobiles, I don't know how close to the downhill area I got.IMG_0278.JPG
Spout Springs was the first time I didn't have to herringbone or other means to make it up the hills. We moved to Walla Walla in 1960. Spout Springs had one T-Bar and a killer tow rope. We also skied at Anthony Lakes where they had better snow. My brother broke his leg in his beartrap bindings. We left WW in '65 to the Idaho Panhandle.

Back to Spout Springs: http://wallawalladrazanphotos.blogspot. ... l/Tollgate
Check it out. It is a good reminisce of ski areas back in the day.
