Movies varied all over the place..There was a great caving movie shot in NZ..
Also a great mountain "running" movie by a guy who set a new record on the Matterhorn..
And then there were the silly/shit movies..And some "adventure" flicks that were anything but..
Overall, just a fun $$$ event as usual..and actually I had already seen a number of the movies we paid for!

I guess mainly I go to get back up there just as winter is making its move, do some hiking, play in some snow..

I always come back wondering how the hell anyone can afford to eat and drink up there!!!
A common bottle of vodka is at least 3x what we pay down here..and beer is insane! 50 bux
for a case of Kokanee and we pay 20 for it on sale down here ! WTF ?
  Take lots of trail mix, cheese, sausage and COFFEE and beers and vodka! They seem very concerned with "fresh fruits and veggies" on the border.. Coming home the agent asked if we had any fresh fruit or veggies we were bringing back in..I said " where woudl we have gotten any" ? ha ha
BTW, Kokanee is said to be made up there..with water from the (receding) glaciers!

We see it the other way here in Eastern Canada: Everything is cheaper in the states! Yep, beer is about half the price of what we pay here. Gas is about 30-40% cheaper. That's why we cross the border every week...! We've been doing so every week for almost 10 years and they still bug us with the fresh fruit thing...

AND, everything is more expensive in western Canada. Cars are twice the price. Housing is twice the price. This is actually THE only reason I'm still here. A lot of people buy a car here, drive to BC or Alberta, sell their car over there and ski the rest of the year with the profit made.

I tend to hate ski movies in general... Unless it was made in the eighties. But hey, feel free to give us some good mountain/ski movies recommendations...!

Ski movies are dead..just the same old self-glorifying TGResque shit..endless!
We did see the ski "lights" movie which was actually fun to watch and about 15 minutes long..Thankfully, we
got there too late to suffer through any new TGR freakin' pap.

Wages MUST be pretty high up there ? or..WTF?

If you want a superior instability, consider this: rubber-boot telemark. :)

Want!!! NEED!!!!!!!
Anyone still have a pair of those old Free Heels?

TGResque, that's the word I was looking for... Any good non-TGResque movie recommendation?

Of course wages are higher out west... But not as much to justify everything else. Well, that's not true. They got MOUNTAINS. We got hills.

You've seen it all before, LJ..with the possible exception of a film kinda about acitizen of Dubai who grew up in Morocco (his dad was a ski guide in the mts there) and skis 6 days per/week -it is said.. The rest are virtually the same as anything you have seen before, sadly...Though I would say the ski-light movie is visually fun. Also there's a ski flick with people skiing nude, and ( of course) with respect to one gender ..well. :D
