Another truth of Voile.
Hardwire broke twice a season.

The 3-pin holes of the boots break easily.
So you may need a protector.

Truth is in the eye of the beholder.....We break our skis each year but not where the pins are!!!!!!! Think Ron has put up at least one of Teleking with the tail sticking up.....No Rebound has survived us for more than @ two years and we break e99's and their kind often....That's why having that little wing on the pins sticking out helps....

Pin holes can be easily marred, yes, mostly by the inexperienced and cavemen....But there's an easier fix than the smile plate -- which I do like and i have a spare pair..The fix is a light layer of Shoe Goo ..hardens like a rock..simple..also spraying the bindings with a little WD40 can be good for ease of entry..In any case, marring a pin hole is not the end of the world..the pins are held in place in their little metal slots..

Woooaaah, it's turning into a war...!! (I can't help being on the XC side, even if I'm a total pinhead myself... : )

Nice ones CIMA!
Come on Ron, gather some broken NNN pics for us...! 8-)

I break skis every year too... But most of the time on NTN... Now how can anyone break skis on NNN with that much finesse and technique?

Can't ski NNN hard enough to break anything!!!  that binding will eject you long before you can exert enough pressure on it to make a scratch! But they do like to freeze and break!!

Regardless whether it is of 3-pin or not, toe plate area is an Achilles' heel of all telemark bindings.

(Kevin Kelly)

A "nail pulling" effect along with the flexure of the camber causes stress concentration at the screw points of the bindings.

The sturdier the boots get, the more the skis suffer.
