New additions to the Snow Glade Farm Asnes line:

Initial impressions.

210cm Gamme 54 BC:
- full-length supportive flex- from tip to tail. In comparison, the E99 Tour Xtralite is stiff underfoot, but its tip is very soft and noodily.
- definitely double-cambered, but...Initial camber is lower profile than the E99 Tour. Second camber- again- is low profile but stiff, very close to E99 Tour. In general the E99 is more cambered and stiffer underfoot.
- traditional XC raised tip- MUCH better for breaking trail than the E99.
- Nordic rocker. Less than the E99 Tour.
- Torsionally rigid.
- This is quite a ski and a complete work of master design and craftsmanship.
- They are going to absolutely fly in the hills!!!

205cm Ingstad BC:
- full-length supportive flex. WAAAAAAY more supportive than the E109 Tour Xtralite or Eon.
- serious Nordic rocker- more than the E109 Tour Xtralite.
- camber-and-a-half underfoot
- beautiful.
- predictions: will be fantastic both x-country and downhill skiing in DEEP snow- will ski short on consolidated snow.

188cm Falketind 62:
- wow
- single-cambered. Lower profile camber and without resistance underfoot (unlike my Storetind).
- full-length supportive flex.
- torsionally rigid.
- rockered tip.
- slightly rockered tail.
- moderately stiff, smooth round flex.
- these were designed for those of us that want to seriously rip turns with a XC boot!
- this ski differs in many ways from my Storetind. I wonder where the new Rabb 68 is in terms of flex and camber...

Wow! Christmas came early to New Brunswick, with snow! I was happy to read your positive initial impression of the Gamme. My initial impression of the Gamme was also very positive, then I doubted myself. I remembered I was very concerned when the FT 62 first arrived, I questioned myself because I am quite happy with the FT 62. That being said, if you had asked me about a FT 62 for you, I would have been cautious with my endorsement. I imagine if you don't care for the 62, The Mrs. might find it to her liking.
I really look forward to your reviews. You are mounting the 62 NNN-BC? Depending on how I like NNN-BC, I am already thinking about mounting my 62 NNN-BC. Of course that would mean I would need to get a NATO Storetind. I hope ALL YOU GUYS know it was cheaper when I just bought fishing lures!

Me too! Especially the reviews of the Ingstad and the Falketind! Maybe you could compare them to each other, and also to your Storetind? Of course the Ingstad should be the best XC ski and the Storetind the best DH ski, but how pronounced are the differences? And where does the Falketind belong on the spectrum?

Rebecca has already claimed the FT62- referring to them as "her skis"!
She barely even acknowledged the Gamme 54!
She is trying to claim the Ingstad as well- but she loved her Eons and the E109 enough that I might be able to hold onto the Ingstad!

I am very excited about playing on the FT62. It is obviously not a distance-oriented XCD ski- it is a downhill ski. BUT- like my Storetind- the FT62 has a supportive enough flex that it will still be a better XC in deep soft snow than skis like the E109/Eon (and reportedly the Nansen).

Yes- NNNBC Magnum is going on the FT62. Alpina Alaska- baby. I am thinking that if you don't need/want your T4 on the FT62 that you would be thrilled with the Alaska BC on that ski...I will let you know what I think soon!

Did the Storetind really get made into a Combat ski?!!? I thought that post was a fake...

I expected the FT62 to be a mini Storetind. It isn't. The FT62 is truly single-cambered (i.e. Alpine camber), with a rockered tip (like Voile's "hybrid rocker"), and has a smooth, round, moderately-stiff flex. The Storetind is more cambered and has more resistance underfoot than the FT62. This may all be obsolete however- the Storetind is no more! The question remains- what has Asnes done with the current 68, the Rabb? Is it like the FT62, or is it like the Storetind?

The Storetind and the Ingstad are VERY different. The Storetind is a rigid downhill ski with tip rocker- with a bit of extra tension and resistance underfoot. The Ingstad is a XC ski with a rockered tip. The Storetind is turn-oriented; the Ingstad is distance-oriented.

The FT62 doesn't fit in Asnes' "fjellski" continuum- it is completely different than all of the fjellskis (which fundamentally are still XC skis). The FT is a modern tip-rockered downhill BC ski- miniaturised to be handled with a XC boot! Wow. Yo-yo skiing on NNNBC.

I am also super keen to read more tests and reviews- both on the Gamme- and perhaps especially Johhny's Rabb 68 and wider!

Asnes still has the Rbb 68 posted in the "Fjellski" group on their website, and still describes it as a hybrid between a "toppturski" and "fjellski".

But they have the FT62 with the "fjellskis" as well...

What is the Rabb 68 Johnny?!

I double checked the Asnes website, while I may be an eater of fish, Johnny is a master fisherman and he caught a great big sucker, me! That Combat Storetind was first on my next year list since his post.
You will find the FT 62 to be kind of unique. In as little as 4" of snow it will maintain a wax pocket for a lot of miles (10 Is about my max, with downhills). However the wax pocket drags on hardpack. In soft snow the ski rides more on the wider tip and tail preserving the wax pocket. At least that is my impression.
BTW, I have never skied the FT 62 with my T-4's, only the Alico Ski March boots.

Just got got back from an evening on my new Gammes!!!!!
Fresh snow tomorrow calling my Ingstads and laps in my steep field with the FT62!!!
