Buttery turns in Southern Utah, with one cringe-worthy bombhole.

The last minute and a half of the above movie is EVERYTHING that I love about skiing in the east. WOW. I love it! He nailed it on this one.

"...this year, we are going too deep, and the skiing was going to be way too steep. I finally realized what others realized before me. Telemark skiing has a time and place, and it's NOT in the big mountains........

I can't translate the voiceover but the boxes say this, according to Teh Googles

Fridtjof Nansen is 22 years old and ready to attend the Husebyrennet in Kristiania. Despite several warnings and bad reports, he plans to go skiing across the mountain from Voss to Ostlandet. After 133 years later, 10 stupid hard dings will go to Nansen's footsteps and relive the journey over the hoyfjellet.

+++

The participation in the House Bureau led to a ninth place for Nansen. The experience he made on the journey between Voss and Kristiania was later used to determine the route to the Bergensbanen. The trip was the start of a long career as a polarist and adventurer.

Awesome!
See, this is exactly how I will feel when riding the Nansens in the backyard this winter...! ;)

I used to feel like I was climbing the K2 and watching for seracs with the Cecilie BC. And felt like exploring Greenland with Ingstad last season... Asnes skis are made of wood, magic and history...

Do you have a Nansen?
Cross-country AND down-hill skiing in the backcountry.
Unashamed to be a "cross-country type" and love skiing down-hill.
