Alternatively you can use the more scientific method of applying the mathematical formula
#of skis needed = x+1
where x is the number of skis you currently own.
Interestingly this also works for bikes!

May also work fine if your replace SKIS with SKILLS

Step 1) Are the skis red? No - Need new skis.
Step 2) Are the skis red? Yes - Need new red skis as these are the wrong color red.

No doubt about it this chart works equally well with windsurfing gear. My wife is a math teacher so having that fall back formula should lock the deal.
