Rossi BC110 mounting point?

Hi folks!
I finally received my sweet Rossignol BC110.
The setup will be Voile CRB and Garmont Excursion.

What's the mounting point? I was expecting a notch or a line with a mention "Boot center" like alpine gear.
There seems to be a line at the balance point is that correct? Pins goes to the line?
New to xcd but been alpine skiing for long time.

I don't know why they are so vague with those skis. I believe Rossi recommends pins on the balance point, but I personally would put my ball-of-foot there. Opinions may vary.

I would not mount them on balance unless balance is a bit forward on the ski.

I think the best idea is to look at the relationship between balance, chord and the center of the running surface (CRS), and see how they line up. Chord really does nothing except give you an easier measurement - really it's CRS that is important. Balance doesn't really give you much of anything. I have a number of XC/D skis mounted from balance to forward of balance, and they all feel similar in terms of K&G. For a track XC ski, balance is ideal. For a BC ski, it depends on what the ski is doing. I wouldn't want to be too far off balance, as the ski might get a little unruly (just a theoretical guess) - in most cases I have I'm within a couple cm of balance for the pin line.

For DH performance I would really look at ball of foot on center of running surface (BOF on CRS) - that makes the most sense to be in terms of edge control, but then again, you need to consider tip balance - chord gives some insight to this because it takes into account the tips. BOF on CRS should probably give you a +1 or +2 cm from chord. That's probably the range you want to be, but BOF on CRS takes into account your boot length. Boot center for freeheel doesn't make much sense to me.

As far as mounting- I agree with Mike- it depends on what you are going to be doing with this ski...

I am assuming that you are mounting the CRB binding because your primary focus is downhill skiing with this ski?

I am not familiar with this binding- can you release the cable and use it to efficiently XC ski? I am assuming that it is not a 3-pin binding? Can you remove the cables entirely?

I like balance point for my skis that are intended for both xcountry and downhill skiing (which are almost all of them).

But if this is meant to be a downhill "Telemark" kit, then I would suggest mounting the bindings from that perspective.

FWIW: I do a LOT of trail breaking (lazy friends and/or solo) so I like my XCD setup to have the tails a little heavy so the tips rise when striding/climbing through deep unbroken snow. Not much, but just enough so the tips tend to rise when picking up your foot.

Well, that's where Voile puts it, G3 says 0.5 cm behind the alpine boot center, and Black Diamond says on the line or up to 2.5 cm behind it if you want a traditional mount. I wouldn't say it makes little sense. I would start with the location the ski maker recommends and modify as you think necessary.

No, forward from center, but just slightly. So the tips rise when the foot is lifted.
