Then perhaps Fisher and co. would have reason good reason to bring back those sweet WAXABLE XCDs (Sbounds, etc.)!

I am with you on this bgreg... I love waxing skis. And using skins. It is not that I hate waxless though... I understand that for people skiing in the Sierra for example (where conditions change all the time) it makes perfect sense...
I always use waxless skis for climbing, no matter the snow, the temperature or the steepness. I mostly tour and climb for turns... And waxless can climb anything, faster than skins... I ajust my skiing according to the snow... Granted, waxless is useless for hard or icy snow. But I don't ski hard or icy snow... ; )

But hey, I'm more on the DH, telemark side of skiing... K&G efficiency doesn't matter much to me... I like taking my time... That is my humble, freaky way of skiing... 8-)

Same here. Waxless works fine for a wide range of snow types/temperatures/terrains. I just adjust my technique and choose a mellower line up in order to avoid using skins. I wax my waxable touring skis when there's little climbing/descending involved, but for up and downs and for the tours to get to the ups and downs, I feel that waxless is most efficient and effective for me. Plus, I hate the idea of fiddling around with kick wax when I'm out recreating on the snow. Talk about a buzzkill!

Pretty funny - I'm with you guys - I actually once tried to climb the Mt. Washington Cog Railway with fishscales! People gave me some crazy looks as I struggled for a few minutes and gave up, it's WAY too steep. I did make my way up the Ammo Ravine trail for a couple miles though.

I do like the idea of Fischers easyskin though - fishscales with optional half-length skin for steeper climbing. Would love to see Asnes do a couple fishscale models. Wax skis are their "core competency" though, why try to fight Fischer, Madshus, Rossi, etc. in the scaled market.
