Lord!!!!! people excited about LEATHER BOOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unreal.....Will get my wife to this site and give me a helping hand.....because I am PSYCHED that I MIGHT be able to get some NEW leather boots....Man! Will find out what kind of Alico Telekid has...TM

But I suppose a 'leather' boot needs to fit a narrow range of criteria to be considered a leather boot. I usually assume if it uses leather in it's construction, it's a leather boot. But I'm sure that's not the case.

I've always heard the Merrell and the Asolo had a different last, but who knows? I had someone tell me the Merrells ran narrower. The tongue does look different - the Asolos have a two piece tongue but the cuff and the rest of the boot look the same. I don't like that cuff or the plastic inside it. That's the nasty part for me.

Are your boots size 10 US or UK? My T-4's are 10-10 1/2, mondo 28.5.
I am looking for a lighter boot for my USGI Combat skis, and I want something a little lighter and faster than what I am on.

I think they are 10 US. I normally wear a 43 or 44 Euro sized boot, and these fit me about the same. For mondo I wear 27.5 or 28.

I heard Scarpa runs small on the T4, but I've not tried them on, so I cannot make any comment.

Asolos and Merrells are different bests. The Merrel, for instance, has a wider last while its tongue seems softer than the Asolo snowpines and such.

I'm on the lookout for Merrels sz 8-9 or 42-43!

there are VERY nice Garmont Tour leathers on ebay right now and the guy is practically throwing them away - $40. Men's 8 and 9 are available, these are super nice quality boots. A little more substantial than Antarctic.

I ordered two sizes to cover my ass! That's why the 46 are for sale. They wouldn't tell me the EU size, only UK, so I ordered 12 and 12.5 and it was the right move because it turned out the UK 12.5 was 47. This was the alternative to flying to Venice, I had to pay air shipping from Australia & wanted to make sure I got the right size. Unfortunately injury has prevented me from getting on skis to try them for now.

They seem to fit Andrew's reputation 100% - extremely nice leather and construction. Nice soft leather in the toe and foot area, stiffer in the back. The leather is of gorgeous quality and the last is wider like Merrells. I wonder if Andrew made the Merrell boots actually. The old Supercomp looks 100% identical to Andrew's current plastic cuff boot.

FYI, I'm convinced Andrew did do the double boot (alico double style) for both Arkos, Karhu and Merrell at some point in time, so your hypothesis is probably correct.

Hope the Zenith is a better boot than the Alico Teletour to justify that hefty purchase price! My teletours are great, albeit a little too big for my feet. That buckle can seriously cinch man. By the way, given how you have shown us leather can stretch, I'm no longer as worried if the last is wide or narrow.

the Tele Tours ankle's are a bit lower for betting striding, the Zenith are much higher & stiffer in the back. the Antarctic is very good at stretching, some boots don't stretch as much but you can usually get more width out of any of them. hopefully you can shim or add a thick footbed to your Tours. yes instead of children I spend money on tele boots…no telling how much I'll have to eat selling the size that didn't fit….I do hope to someday make that pilgrimage (sp?) to Andrew to get custom-fitted boots made.
