Fischer E-109 vs. Asnes Ingstad
Re: Fischer E-109 vs. Asnes Ingstad
The race is on! Who can get those skis on the snow the quickest!
Pretty sure lilcliffy wants a 210 Nato/Ingstad. Not sure if he has an option to ship to the border and go pick them up in Maine, but I'd say it's worth it for $300!

We'd have to factor in the 3-4 hour time difference between you guys and me...MikeK wrote:The race is on! Who can get those skis on the snow the quickest!

FWIW, Neptune told me a couple of months ago that they wouldn't ship to a US address if the billing address was in Canada, so any Canadians trying to purchase from them will need to have to work that out. (The sale prices are also great at Lacordee, but the issue there is most of the standard sizes (190-210) are already gone...).

Oh, that could be a problem...
I ordered Johnny's skis for him and had them shipped to VT. He paid me via paypal.
They didn't seem to care about the billing address when I talked to them, but I could see how that might be an issue.
Gareth if you want those skis and you have a border p/up, let me know and I can order them for you.
Also my skis got delayed because of SNOW!!!! Best snow we've had all year and I'm sick

Get better soon Mike.

Hey thanks!
It looks like Calais ME has a company that will receive shipments.

I'd be happy to order skis for anyone in Eastern Canada, just shoot me a pm. We can work out a meeting place, I'm in northern NH or VT on a regular basis. Could just ship them from here as well.
I got the Breidablikk 200's - thinking they'll be perfect for stuff like the sledding hill Mike hit recently. When we get good snow locally, that type of stuff w/ the dogs is most of the skiing I do. The S-bounds can take over if it's icy or hard snow. I found I don't like the wider fish-scale skis, have sold off my Epochs & Eons, thinking these will suit me better.
Glad you guys in NY got dumped on. Would love to hear about those Ingstad's. I'm sure the edges will make them a little stiffer-flexing. I like the dimensions of these, about the same as the old slalom race skis.

Interesting thoughts Canna.
Do you planning on using full or kicker skins with either of your Asnes, or just wax?

Tom I got the 45mm kicker skins last year, will have to see how they work, I guess the 60mm width would fit on the Breidablikk too. I have older BD full-length skins that could be used on these as well. Not sure where I'll end up skiing them. This year is looking bad, my schedule doesn't have much room to get away up north and it's brown ground here.athabascae wrote:Do you planning on using full or kicker skins with either of your Asnes, or just wax?

Re: Fischer E-109 vs. Asnes Ingstad
I hope you find some snow Canna. Winter won't last forever.
I couldn't wait any longer and the dogs needed walked, so I took the Ingstads out for a short (tiny) inaugral ski tonight.
As for the skins: The 60mm fits the Ingstad like a glove; but, depending what you want them for the 45mm or 35mm may be a better choice. I found that the 60 mm skins were really grippy. There was almost no glide on cold, hardpacked snow. Climbing small hills was a breeze, though - it was like being in 4 wheel drive low. Of course, they glided better in 2 foot deep untracked powder, but they did kill some glide for sure there too. So, my initial impression is that the 60 mm would be super for hill climbing, but perhaps overkill as a klister/scale replacement, at least in cold, hard snow. I'm thinking the 45 mm or 35 mm might be better if you want to kick and glide with them. I'll spend more time sorting that out, especially in the light fluffy stuff.
I'll get them out on a couple of other headlamp-fueled skis over the next few evenings before I report more; but my initial impression of the Ingstads with Alpina Alaskas was:

Well you won the race Tom! Sorry I don't have a prize for you. We talked about making up some TTalk shirts, but I don't know where that idea went. I'd like to revive it.
